Remember how then-chairman Rupert Lowe was spouting off about us in the press when we signed Dean Richards?
Almost perfect timing for you to play us. Two of our three most influential players are out (lucas and Sterling) and the third (Coutinho) is a massive doubt.
"Sanchez out, now Sterling? Where's this Spurs luck coming from?" Mis-management of rival club key players ?? Given we are in February, and there have not been <standard>s of any form this season, I have begun to ponder whether Pochettinos' core fitness regime is having benefical side-effects.
Everyone is having luck against Spurs in that they are having to play against Spurs with one academy graduate up top rather than the experienced international strikers we have.
He's been out for 6 months, and is still looking sluggish. If those 3 I mentioned were fit then Sturridge would be on the bench for this match IMO. But obviously when he's back to 100% fitness he's one of our best players.
My faulty memory claims Lawro has gotten it wrong time after time with us, so I’d certainly rather he pick against us this game. I agree 2-0 is an odd score to predict, given recent history. Time after time over the last couple of months the score in our games has been 2-1 with the the losers scoring first. It’s gotten to the point where I was wondering if it was to our advantage to have Arsenal score first. In fact it was, and there seems to be a simple explanation. The longer the game is tied or we’re behind, the longer we wait to switch off.
I did think Brendan might have been saving Sturridge for tonight, but obviously not if he has been ruled out.
and we've shoved a 20 year old winger up top for 6 months! Rather than the experienced Lambert or Balotelli
I guess disappointment requires expectation. I had high (ish) expectations for Balotelli, did you lot think Adebayor would set the league alight this year?
"You've just guaranteed cruciate ligament damage for Eriksen Lloris and Kane." The God of <standard> usually strikes well before this period in a season. Obviously with no out and out speedboats in the squad, the chances of hamstring tears etc will decrease. Yet I do wonder whether the Pochettino fitness regime is toughening up players for those injuries that usually cause a <standard> .
Sturridge hasn't been ruled out? Sterling has. Which is probably better for you as Sturridge still isn't match fit and looks rather sluggish so far despite scoring against West Ham. Will definitely be an interesting game, and one that I'm not particularly looking forward to. May the best team win guys.
