Yeah can't complain. We've dipped a bit since the turn of the year but still reasonably pleased.

Impressive season for you lot. Didn't see that coming.

    Won't last though. You'll finish 6th-8th IMO.

Going through each teams fixtures its impossible to make a case for you to finish above Arsenal and Man Utd and probably Liverpool too. Their extra quality will tell in the end.

That rather depends upon how much longer we can continue to over-achieve I guess?

Most 'In the know' pundits, and many fans of other clubs, say that Saints "Will fall away", or " It won't last". The reasoning behind this is that Saints haven't been a 'top' club in previous seasons (we were in League One within living memory of many goldfish), so, rather than provide valid reasons why it "Won't last though", they fall back on the concept that we somehow don't belong where we are, so we are bound to...do what? Lose important players? Well, that's already happened, with remarkably little effect - Go on a losing run? That happened, but we came out of it, relatively unscathed - fail to splash the cash in the transfer window? We ended up with two new signings, and confirmed the permanent signing of a player on loan.
So, the basis on which Saints will not continue to be successful is simply that it hasn't happened before.

We probably won't finish top of the Premier League (this season), but we are two Man City draws/Saints wins away from being second (even if it is only on goal difference). So, we don't appear to be falling away, we've coped with most issues that were meant to derail our progress, and WE'RE STILL HERE, much to the chagrin of all those professional navel-gazers that want to pat us on our collective head and tell us to run along.

The Swansea defeat was big. Fail to beat us on Wednesday and the dream will be all but over for you.

But we woke up and beat QPR. If it had been the other way around - a win over Swansea, then a loss to QPR, we would have the same number of points, so the overall effect is the same. Still, if it was easy, there would be no fun in being a Saints supporter.

Swansea defeat was disappointing and a draw against you would not end our season out of the top four, so cannot agree with your assessment. Spurs at home and Liverpool too are the key games coming up.

Anyway, this is supposed to be a match thread.

I'm going for a narrow defeat if we still only have one centre back and no Carroll. A win for us if they're all back fit.

I'll be on here after the game W,L or D (if I'm not banned by then!).

    C'Ya.

    Not by a long chalk.

We can only take each game as it comes but we have been winning even with a long injury list. These players are gradually returning and confidence is high.

Yes, we will also need an element of luck but we are out of all cups unlike the others and so can focus on our league position. It's one of those seasons too, who would have predicted hull getting a point at the mighty citeh.

Oh it's a result for me Lff if he's out; he drives me mental and ruins my day at the football. I will hopefully be able to enjoy the game.
