Defence is looking good - it brings the best out in everyone and really suits Skrtel. I still think he's a limited defender who is a liability, but he's done well in this role.
Premier League Clean sheets this season. Forster - 11 Fabianski - 9 Mignolet - 9 Foster - 8 Guzan - 7 Courtois (best keeper in the league behind the best defence) - 7 Joe Hart - 7 De Gea - 7 Our crappy little Simon behind our ****ty defence have the 2nd best clean sheet record in the league it seems...
Is it just me or do the pundits really not like Sakho? He was getting repeatedly criticised by Stan Collymore on saturday because he's "not a ball playing centre half". Lawro's often criticised him along the same lines as well Do you think this criticism is justified? Personally I think he is good in possession but often goes for the high risk option, which is great when it comes off but obviously has its down side
Because it's easier to criticise players and follow the bandwagon. The criticism is definitely not justified - it's lazy, as are the constant comparisons with Traore.
Great rugby tackle from Sakho last night Lads played well until the last two games but still looking very shaky under pressure....the high pressing opposition are definitely after him so needs to cut out the mistakes.
It was a **** rugby tackle, he missed I agree Sakho has looked shaky in the last two games, I think teams have realised he doesn't like to be under pressure. With that 'rugby tackle' effort, the ball was almost out for a throwing and he kept it in trying to retain possession. This put not only himself but the team under pressure. I know this is Brod's influence but we seriously need to start just knocking the ball out so we can regroup in these situations.
A throwing? Like it I totally agree the way Brod sends them out it makes these things more likely. Skrtel suffered terribly from it when Rodgers came in and it makes a defenders job much harder. I was glad to see last night that we were happy to clear our lines in the last ten minutes at least.
Thought Skrtel did very well last night. Sakho has looked shaky on the ball in the last couple of games - maybe coincides with having no Lucas to create angles? Having said that, he's still strong defensively which is the key thing. And re. the rugby tackle - brilliant. It was cynical and it was 100% necessary. More sh*thousery like that is needed!
Tis true. Was getting very pissed with Spurs' dirty tactics last night but then rationalised it and thought if we were doing the same I'd be fist pumping everything Worry about our defence without Can. He will have to push into midfield eventually, Lovren is the little boy lost - still on my 'to sell' list wonder if Rodgers will give him some more time and a new improved Lovren will emerge allowing me to take him off that list, Skrtel is being supported by Can and Sakho either side of him, without them babysitting he's much weaker
Migs also has a lot more confidence in the 3 ahead of him. Also, once Can does move into midfield and assuming we buy a quality DM - I think Henderson should be a little worried about his place in the team.
Not if he'd done the right thing in the first place and made sure the ball went out for a throw in. By trying to keep it in and maintain possession (fair play to him for having the confidence) he not only put himself under unnecessary pressure, he puts the team in danger too. However, with that having happen, I agree that the attempted cynical rugby tackle was 100% the right thing to do in that position.
