No side was hoofing it. There were long balls but they were not the only tactic used by both sides.

West ham played more though. It suited you to do so.

Some people have no idea what hoofing means, they think a long ball from defence to one of your own attackers is a hoof. Leave them to it UiR <ok>

    We were dreadful, again.

City drew, Liverpool drew, Arsenal lost and Southampton won so given the chance to extend/close a gap on our rivals we failed to win. Yet again. That's not a promising sign.

Play a balanced side for **** sake. Why play three strikers? Keep one (or two) on the bench and play some actual centre midfielders instead. When things don't go to plan please (please) don't stick Fellaini on and go route one, that is just embarrassing.

There are no excuses for this ****, we've got a very strong squad. We're lacking at right back, that's all, but not having a right back doesn't excuse how utterly ****ing clueless we are in attack.

Get top four or **** off. You'll deserve to be sacked.

This has happened far too many times this season, other teams are giving us every opportunity to improve our position and we just keep throwing it away!

Long ball Louis. Only Burnley have played more long balls this season 1877. United 1861.

Arsenal the least just over a 1000, City 1105,

Why spend £150m on Gaalacticos and play panic long ball to Fellaini. Does LVG not believe his passing game works?

£150m where have you been they have all been saying that to us all season <whistle>

And you would think after spending £100m on players you would be challenging for the Title or is that just Rodgers not to mention not offering your captain a new deal aswell.

Been saying for frikkin weeks he should be playing Rooney upfront.....the kids a striker....
Falcao and RvP are no good right now, injuries etc, too inconsistent. To be true I think both are past their peak. RvP due to age and Falcao due to injury.
Play Rooney up front, Mata and Di maria behind him then Carrick, Herrera and Blind in midfield.

I won't even begin to try to sort out what personnel you would put in defence.

Rooney and Wilson up front would be interesting, RVP and Falcao have had lots of chances and failed to gel or impress <ok>

At least it was an exciting match.

The RS match with a better Everton team was so drab that it was really difficult to keep awake. <ok>

Never really bought into that logic too much. Every week we hear one of either:

If our rivals drop points we have a chance to extend / close a gap so we must win
If our rivals don't drop points we can't allow a gap to develop, so we must win

Choose your argument each week to explain why we must win every game

I agree it was a **** performance, and we need to play better to be sure of a top four spot. But we'll do that by winning as many games as we can regardless of what our rivals do. I don't really buy into the argument that it was an even worse result because of other results around us.

The point is that every time we've had the opportunity to close a gap we've failed to do it.

Make of that what you will but I personally call it piss poor management.

True, but then the corollary of that is that every time our rivals have had the opportunity to widen that gap we haven't let them. Which could be argued to be good management.

Either way you look at it, we are fourth which is pretty much where we deserve to be. Picked up enough points to be in the mix for top four, dropped to many to be safe up there. It's not good enough considering the quality of the squad, and we've definitely dropped too many points, but it doesn't really matter in my book if those points were dropped at the same time as our rivals or at different times.

    I think it does.

It's significant that when we've played after our rivals and had the chance to gain points on them we've blown it, of course it is. A Ferguson side would have found a way to win.
Van Gaal has this reputation for being this great manager but when opportunity knocks he's pissing about with his team and making a mess of it, the buck stops with him.
