Doncaster 7.00 - A fascinating maiden to watch, but not one for me to bet in. Some good prospects from leading yards, one of these could be special.

Epsom 6.50 - Chapter Seven - A race that I expect experience to pay dividends on the tricky Epsom course. Esentepe is the most experienced and he is rightly the favourite, but he has been beaten in five races in his career, I think he could be vulnerable once more and is worth taking on at short odds. Bayleyf is the second in the market and he is the second most experienced, he has been beaten in three races so far and perhaps he might find one too good here. I think both can be taken on by the Richard Fahey Chapter Seven, the Doncaster maiden he ran in was a good one and he looked in need of the run that day. He showed me enough to suggest that he could win a maiden in the short term and I think at 10/1 he is the bet against the front two in the market. 10/1 BOG 0.5pt EW

Folkestone 2.40 - Pearl Diva is 1/12 for a reason! I won't be backing it at those prices.

Newmarket 1.50 - Roman Soldier - The big race of the day for the juveniles and we get to see Royal Ascot form collide in a Group 2 at HQ. Roman Soldier was second in the Coventry whilst Frederick Engels won the Windsor Castle, and they are the front two in the market here. I am a big fan of Roman Soldier and I think he will continue to improve with racing, he is a big horse who will continue to grow into his frame and I think we will see him progress to Group 1 races before the end of the season. Frederick Engels is a very sharp colt who runs in a third different set of silks this season (won in Qatar Bloodstock silks at Royal Ascot) and he now runs for Pearl Bloodstock. He to me looks a very forward two year old and this could be the best part of his career, I expect a big run from him but I do think Roman Soldier is open to more improvement. I think Bannock is the one they all have to be wary about, he missed the kick a bit at Ascot yet ran well enough to finish sixth in the Norfolk and I think he is a bit better than the bare form. Church Music should find this too tough on his second outing and North Star Boy has five lengths to find with Roman Soldier. 2/1 BOG 3pt win.

Newmarket 3.35 - Burwaaz has the best form but I don't think he should be odds on against a field of potentially progressive sorts who could turn into Group horses. I would not be surprised to see him beaten in this race, however I can't decide between the three debutant winners and I think the race is just one to saviour.

Warwick - two maidens that need watching for the future, both trappy heats and they don't appeal as betting heats.

Morning, people. There are 2 that catch my eye today. One running at the old 'July Festival' this afternoon and the other 'oooooooooooop North' this evening. Namely they are:

Mijhaar (2.25 Newmarket) - this one was ultra-impressive on his seasonal debut as he romped home by some 7 lengths at Haydock Park. Following that effort he then stepped up in class and was 4th over 12 furlongs in the King Edward VII Stakes. However, he seemingly failed to stay that day and consequently is dropped back in distance to10 furlongs here. 96 does not look a harsh rating for Mijhaar as he has bundles of ability. I would envisage a win in this heat before he returns to Pattern races.

Sense of Pride (8.45 Doncaster) - what a lovely name for a filly by the way. She is also one of the best bred animals in training being by Sadler's Wells and out of an Irish Oaks winner. Sense of Pride was a most promising 3rd on her reappearance last month and 77 looks a most lenient mark. I would imagine that old boy Gosden views this as highly exploitable and this is the reason why Sense of Pride has been kept in training rather than dispatched to the old breeding shed.

Morning Nass and all. I gotta say that I'm beginning to feel a little paranoid mate. I was just about to post my nap Roman Soldier in the 1:50. Then saw your write up. Just had to check that I'd posted the horse on Ron's comp. Phew, thankfully 25 minutes before your post. <laugh>
 
Nice days racing at Newmarket today with some interesting races.

120 sees 2/3 possible St Leger runners taking each other on, i see it panning out between SOLAR SKY and Masked Marvel but I can see why so many have supported Census after his good run behind Brown Panther after a tardy start.

150 pitches 2 very good performers from Royal Ascot. FREDERICK ENGELS demolished his field off a fast pace and his trainer (David Brown) is extremely confident this monster will stay the 6F now. I backed Roman Soldier at Ascot and he must be a massive danger after just getting pipped by Power in the Coventry. A race that will without doubt provide us with a very special 2yo.

300 is a race to watch rather than back in for me as all the value about AFSARE has disappeared. He is down to 4s and although that's fair i would have licked a couple of points higher, again it looks like a race between him and Redwood, another close finish i'm guessing.

My main bet of the day comes in the 225 where we see a very good looking HCap. Roger Varian has his runners in outstanding form but Mijhaar is far too short for what he has shown. 2 trainers here with excellent course form are Jeremy Noseda and Mark Johnston. Club Oceanic could be an improver but he needs to at a very fast pace! I am willing to take a chance at 22s with Boylesports on MALTHOUSE, SDS is riding with extreme confidence lately and this one could just about be too good for them all.

Some smashing racing and profit making opportunites today.Buoyed by yesterdays 8/1 winning nap,I'm again going across the Irish Sea today for my best bet.

Forever Glory (nap) in the 6.15 at L'town looks a smashing bet in a poor maiden.Trained by the excellent Jessie Harrington,he finished a promising second at The Curragh after travelling like a winner.Lack of race fitness and experience apperared to take their toll and he was bettered close home.The first three pulled well clear that day and this race looks a lesser event.

7/4 currently available looks great value.

Interesting to observe Teofilo's full sister makes her debut in the opener at Leopardstown.She has a G1 entry later in the year so has obviously been showing something at home.

Afternoon all

Gary I totally disagree about Mijhaar. His 4th in a Group 2 is probs the best form on offer, add to that the winner looked very good and Mijhaar pulled very hard early and showed signs of inexperience. Only weakened inside final furlong suggesting drop to 1m2f will be perfect. Also had several 100 + performers behind him last time out. Stand out form and with that I will make him my NAP today :)

1.50 Newmarket


Roman Soldier 2/1

Not really a fan of shorties but really think this price is an absolutely stand out price. Roman Solider was my NAP of the week for Royal Ascot and I was gutted when he could only finish 2nd to Power in the Coventry after travelling like a dream for the whole race. Todays jockey Ryan Moore gave Power a fantastic ride to win that day, and in Roman Solider's 3 starts to date he has looked extremely progressive. He takes on Frederick Engels who was a rather impressive winner at Royal Ascot in the Windsor Castle. However, there are definite doubts to me that, although he may stay 6f, he will not be better than Roman Solider at the trip. I'm not arsed writing much more so I will include my Royal Ascot write up below if people want to read further.



Gobsmacked by the price here if I am being honest. Jeremy Noseda's 2 year old comes here on the back of an extremely impressive 3.5L victory to Brian Meehan's highly rated Right to Dream (RTD) over 6f at Leicester. RTD still holds a list of high profile entries, amongst them a Group 1 in the Curragh in Sept. Furthermore,I had been given word for Right to Dream in this race (along with Roman Solider) so he was expected to win that day.

After making a rather disappointing debut at Goodwood 10 days earlier, Roman Soldier was backed off the boards and duly obliged, showing a tremendous cruising speed and excellent turn of foot to win under an excellent hands and heels ride from todays jockey George Baker. He won with a lot in hand that day and could have won by a far greater distance. The ground that day was also on the softer side of good, conditions I am expecting tomorrow. Can't see any problem with more rain either, but Good to Firm would be a let down. The concern I have is that Roman Solider is drawn very wide in stall 23. Hopefully he can break well and get a prominent position with a convergence down the middle a likely scenario.

All in all, Roman Soldier is my most confident selection of the day. Jeremey Noseda has hit cracking form with 5 winners and 7 placed horses from his last 15 runners. Although a massive field, the extremely impressive manner of victory shown by Roman Solider, coupled with the huge market support, suggests there is a lot more to come from this 2 year old. With a bit of luck getting to the front early, hopefully George Baker can give a similar sort of ride to what he delivered last time out and bring Roman Solider home in front.
 
4.40 Newmarket

Murura 16/1

This one went into my tracker in April 2010 after showing an impressive tenacious resilience to finish a very decent 2nd 2.5L behind Magical Macey after absolutely falling out of the stalls and losing a fair few lengths at the start. Murura was under ridden for virtually all the race and made up some very good ground to finish so close, especially over 5f. That run was eye catching to me, and it looked as if further would definitely favour this gelding. Murura had 2 more runs after his race, disappointing twice – once as favourite. Todays selection left the James Given yard and made her debut for the JJ Hartnett yard after a 10 month break at Leopardstown. He was well supported that day and finished a decent about 4L behind subsequent winner Northern Rocked.

Murura’s next outing came at the start of May where Murura finished 7th in a huge blanked finish, ultimately finishing less than a length to the winner Phoebe Van Gelder.LTO Murura was quite unlucky to finish a short head Roicead over C+D in a 30 runner field. Murura was drawn low and I feel did extremely well to finish so close to the winner considering she was on what I would feel to be the slower part of the Curragh racetrack.

After being raised to a mark of 75,what he races off today, Murura has disappointed on his last 3 starts. Although there wasn't too many excuses, Roicead who beat him by a shd has come out and performed admirably since, finishing 1.25L behind Queenie Keen and 1.5L behind Six of Hearts off a rating of 85. The 2nd of these is very interesting as Six of Hearts has subsequently won again off a mark of 102. LTO Murura posted quite a disappointing performance at Leopardstown over 7f, continuing the recent trends.

Today, Murura tackles 5f for only the 3rd time – the first time in over a year and indeed the first time for JJ Hartnett. Although Murura may find this trip too quick, I think by analysing his previous races I have certainly seen enough pace that he can still be effective at this trip. Hartnett sends over just one across the Irish Sea tomorrow and Mikael Barzalona is a very interesting jockey booking. Although I won’t be having a large bet on this tomorrow, this could have been the long term plan and his last three runs could have just ensured he is in top form for tomorrow. I certainly think Murura can win off this mark and hopefully the talented Barzalona can guide him home in front.
 
1.20: SOLAR SKY 11/4- Has hardly put a foot wrong since he made his excellent debut second behind World Domination and looked a most unlucky second at Ascot last time out. Seems to have real staying ability and I fancy this can beat Masked Marvel.

1.50 Newmarket: NORTH STAR BOY 18/1 ew- Yes it may seem mad and yes there are only two places on offer. But his run in the Coventry was full of promise I felt and North Star Boy seems strong at the finish so I wonder if the stiffish track at Newmarket will close the gap.

2.25 Newmarket: MIJHAAR 5/2- I know its a big field but this is a bloody good price. He came in for a tonne of money before the off in a Group 2 when he was a good 4th behind Nathaniel in soft conditions. Firmer footing today and he should not be off the bridle with 2f to run. He appears to be highly thought of.

3.00 Newmarket: CRYSTAL CAPELLA 9/2- Decent reappearance in listed event and should really come on for that loads having had 6 months off. Stoute will begin to turn the corner very soon IMO.

4.40 Newmarket: APACE 4/1 - Excellent second at York when an unlucky 2nd, then went one better next time out. Short of room last time and should go close granted a clearer passage.
 
1.20 Newmarket - Solar Sky

Progressing with each run and looks a useful sort for Sir Henry Cecil, price has drifted out a bit and I am more than happy with the 11/4.

1.50 Newmarket - Sans Loi & North Star Boy - Both E.W.

As topclass says only 7 runners but hopefully one of these will grab a place. Sans Loi is a horse I like and I don't feel we seen the best of him at Ascot, North Star Boy is overpriced on his Coventry run, fair enough he was 5 places behind Roman Soldier, but as toppy says there was plenty of promise in the run and he was finishing nicely.

2.25 Newmarket - Mijhaar (NAP) -

Again same as toppy above with the selection, feel his 4th in a Group 2 last time out is the best form around. He pulled hard that day also showing signs of inexperience. Should know more this time and the drop to 1m2f should be perfect. May have been 4th last time but still had several 100+ horses behind him last time.

3.00 Crystal Capella

If I win topclass also wins so best of luck to him. No point keep putting the same reasons up haha
