I think he was referring to when Tom first got in the Man Utd side, not nowadays. Shelvey was rated as the new Gerrard at the time too
No, sorry, I meant that he was overhyped. I always said he was crap but most seemed to think he belonged in the England line up at the last Euros. Oh I know Mason was, he always seems to be and it's impressive. Bentaleb seems to be the more disciplined of the 2 and picks his moments to get forward but I'd say he's been the better player this season, he had a couple of good shots yesterday and his cross for the winner was class.
Woy doesn't know what to do with exciting players so I don't see the current crop doing much better than the old lot whilst he's in charge.
We should have enough to beat spurs. We must win it too, they are already 4 points ahead of us and not even in the top 4.
actually we are better away from home this season... away in the in the prem our record is: played 11 won 6 (villa, west ham, hull, west brom, swansea, leicester) drew 2 (sunderland arsenal) lost 3 (city (oct), chelsea (Dec), palace (jan) ) we have played 6 away games in the various cups and won 2 drew 3 only lost 1 which was against Basiktas (excuse spelling) so in total we have scored played 17 won 8 drew 5 lost 4 scored 24 goals and conceded 21 but even with all that we will lose...you need it too much and we always lose after winning a big match...we lost to palace after beating chelsea!
Jebus, you're never positive and then suddenly you are in one of the potentially hardest games of the season! Have you seen Spurs at all this season bar our early season meeting?
Aside from a handful of games where Kane and Eriksen rescued them, they owe most of their points to dodgy ref decisions
Spurs were clearly a working progress at the start of the season and Pochetinos training methods and tactics are finally starting to shine through. The man is great with a young squad as it allows the team to run its socks off for 90 mins and always stay intention with the game. They also have a fantastic keeper in Lloris, Kane and Eriksen get better every game and there defence is getting stronger. My missus supports Spurs so I watch them a lot, I shown myself up on their board with my Kane topic....
With Lucas out for a month I would set up with this : -----------------Mig------------ -------Toure--Skrtel---Sakho Ibe-------------Can-----------Moreno -------Lallana--------Coutinho--------- --------Sturridge--Sterling------------ But Rodgers will slap gerrard and Allen on in stead of Toure and Lallana.
Lucas being out is the worry we lack that bite in midfield without him and Allen just doesn't seem to have improved at all. I'd like to see Can played there but if he does we'll get Johnson in the back 3 which is a worry.
-----------------Mig------------ -------Toure--Skrtel---Sakho Ibe-------------Can-----------Moreno ----Henderson--------Coutinho---- --------Sturridge--Sterling------------
I think I'd rather Can in the middle with Lovren at RCB than Can at the back and Gerrard in place of Lucas...
Mig Lovren Skrtel Sakho Ibe/Markovic Henderson Can Moreno Coutinho Sterling Sturridge Nice thing is, when everyone is fit, the team is actually starting to pick itself now... Means were getting a settled starting 11 who can play with each other week in week out.
I'd prefer Toure (not sure if he'll be back in time) to Lovren. Otherwise, I agree with your line-up I suspect Studge won't start though, maybe still a bit soon. He's not played more than half an hour yet.
I'd rather play him and get 2-0 up then take him off and defend the lead than have to bring him on searching for a goal to level/win it.
