You bet that for the first dozen games or so every time the ref calls him for a foul I am going to stand up and yell that he is innocent.
Plans so far which may be subject to change are Fly to San Jose or San Francisco, put a hundred down & rent a car, then spend 4-5 days with the wife's uncle & family in San Jose before setting off on a 4000 mile roadtrip stopping & staying at Sacremento Eugene Boise Salt Lake City Cheyenne Lincoln Omaha Iowa City Chicago Detroit Buffalo Albany Boston & then a few days in NYC before flying home. All in all should take around 6 weeks. Should be a laugh, planning on setting off late May but that could change if we're in the European Cup Final.
Well when you figure out when you are going to be in Sacramento let me know, perhaps a game will be on and we can watch it together in a bar. Judging by that order you probably wont be going to Lake Tahoe which would mean you would drive right by my house but I could drive down the mountain and get to a bar. If you need suggestions on things to see in Sacramento, Eugene, or Cheyenne let me know. I go to Eugene all the time as some of my good friends live there. If you like local breweries they have an absolute ton of them there. I was born in WY and most of my family still lives there (my grandma and one of my uncles still live in Cheyenne) so I can make suggestions there as well. Uh make sure they take you to Santa Cruz and not actually keep you in San Jose. You want to see the beach, surfing, where Lost Boys was filmed and not a bunch of tech nonsense obviously.
Na that order makes sense as he is going north into OR and then East into ID before dropping down and over into UT so he can hit up the main highway going East into WY and then East towards NB.
Its just a lack of main highways going East. Huge stretches of states in that list are basically void of humans. WY which is like 2.5 times the size of the UK probably has only 500,000 people so he has to take a roundabout way if he wants to see the North West and eventually get to the NE.
Don't make the mistake that I did at a Utah drive-in. I ordered fish and chips and got three fish fngers (sticks in NA) and a bunch of crisps (chips in NA). Mind only a Brit would order fish and chips in the middle of a desert and it was 40 years ago
Thanks for that Ellewoods, any help, advice or recommendations will be appreciated. Eugene is a place I've wanted to visit since school, for the stupidest of reasons & that's why we'll be heading north from San Jose & not south. Apart from the general direction nothing's yet set in stone. We're meeting up with her family later this year & should get a few more ideas. I've fancied Lake Tahoe since I turned down a job in San Francisco when I was 21 & moved to London instead. I'll take a look at the route, we're looking at an average of two nights at each stop, so Tahoe may be doable.
Well with that list you really don't want to be here in the winter. It might turn into a reenactment of the Donner party. If you are going to be in Eugene and want to catch a real american sports spectacle the University of Oregon plays in Eugene and their football team/stadium is pretty impressive. Send me a message closer to when you are coming here and ill make a few suggestions.
Yea there are only a couple non-mountain roads that go ever the Sierras. You got the right idea though.
No thin sliced and no salad cream and when I asked for salt and vinegar the server looked at me as if I had three heads and finally gave me a small packet of salt and and a sachet of white vinegar. That was an interesting trip - I went into a club called Soul Train in San Francisco and was the only white in the place and by the expressions of the other clientele, I decided a strategic withdrawal was in order. I then landed in a bar with a bunch of Hells Angels including some from the Oakland chapter and also ran afoul of a hostile barmaid in Custer, Montana. All in all, it was a revelation for a twenty four year old fresh out of college. Talk about naive, I was also picked up by a young couple in Winnemuca, Nevada and driven into the desert to smoke weed. I could still be out there if I'd met the wrong sort!
