I just disagree. He was slow, passing was weak, tackling was weak, heading was weak and he wasn't up to speed with the game.
Given he hasn't played much that's understandable, given the number of changes and new (ish) faces in the starting 11 yesterday it's even more understandable. What was unforgivable was his petulance in kicking the ball away and getting booked early on, it seemed to result in him failing to go into a tackle when needed. As someone in front of me said, "There's a reason he was only £3,000,000 -(then harshly continued). That's peanuts in the Premier League and if you pay peanuts you end up with monkeys." No one sprang to Cork's defence.
IMO Cork will, once he dusts off the rust, be a decent understudy to Leon, much better than Shelvey i that position and a better back up than Canas.
Maybe if Taylor hadn't complained about a knock we'd have seen the much better Carroll take over.

That guy was right, but for all the wrong reasons. Cork only had 3 months left on his contract. So 3m is quite a high price.

Well said. Not sure what you expect, Bob. I thought he had a decent game as did others I spoke to.

I thought Cork was quiet, which generally is a good sign from a DM, especially given that, goal aside, Sunderland weren't allowed anything by our defensive and DM department. He did a few things a little sloppily here and there, but a solid enough debut. I figure that he'll replace Leon on a more permanent basis next season and will interchange with him this season.

I haven't seen the match yet. I appreciate everybody's comments. So I take it that Cork played DM releasing Ki to be more creative and push forward .... hence the goal scoring opportunity?

Regarding Dyer for some reason monk started off playing him on the left and he was not very good but once rangel came on for Taylor dyer reverted back to the right and did a good job, Jack cork did as expected coming into a new set up and will be a lot up to speed once he gets used to his new team mates and as for Ki's disallowed goal then the ref called it wrong as he was on side when the ball was played and he was deemed off side while in a dive from an on side position. I wont blame the ref as he is only human and gets one shot at making the decision while we have the luxury of replays. Apart from Defoe Sunderland offered nothing but again our finishing was poor and that was not all gomis's fault as he had a fair game and was unlucky not to score, We did ok as a team of new, old and returning players and never looked like losing and should have won but at the end of the day its another point to our tally and we march on towards a record breaking end of season points total.....Ki was my MOM by a mile and should have had 2 goals to his name if things were fair and just.....

Cork played like someone new and who'd limited game time. Not a disaster by any means but not particularly good either.
Our set up seemed to be
    ............................... Fab
    Naughton ....... Fed ........Ash.........Taylor
    ...............................Cork
    Dyer ..............Shelvey.........Ki .......Barrow
    .................Shelvey.......Shelvey
    .........................Gomis .........Shelvey
    .......................Shelvey

Ki did attack more and was a man possessed at times but did drift out quite a bit.
Shelvey made a few neat passes and looked a bit more interested but was all over the place rather than all over the field.

The whole performance was disjointed and given the number of changes in the starting line up should be expected.

At least we were playing a poor team unable to string much together.

Another one of those games where it was 2 points dropped rather than one gained.

You are totally wrong according to fifa. His head was actually offside. Yes his head. If feet head or any part of the body excluding arms are beyond the player you are off side and unfortunately his head was.

It does say on slide 5

Dai I do agree with Ki great to see him back and so much for jet lag.

Barrow can only play on the right & Dyer is used to swapping wings with Routldge during the game therefore Dyer played the left until Montero came on. It wasn't until Rangel came on that was some fire on the right hand touch line.

Does QPR result bring home how poor a result this was this year or is it that anyone can beat anyone.
