Scrappy, probably slightly fortuitous but who cares, the 3 points were crucial as we could easily get nothing from our next 2
Derby day looms, can't say I'm looking forward to it either. It feels as though the script is already written - Gerrard's last derby, Weetabix legs back fit, us playing like drains, them in good form............ Meh. I shall still head over in hope though......we've not beaten the twats since 2010..........and I'd love it, if we tore that script up tomorrow....
You're underestimating your chances since it's literally the only thing left for you to play for whereas for us it's just another fixture in a very busy schedule
The EL is ages off so doesn't impact. I doubt you'll be saving yourselves for Chelsea 3 days later. We have a potentially far more important game against Spurs 2 days later. And then the FA Cup 3 days after that. Aside from sentimentality, this fixture is the least important for us.
I take It your replying to the forum bulb Tobes Yeh not a great time for us to be playing them Is It... I am not expecting a classic and have to be honest and say I am hoping for a draw at best? They are on a good run but really only played well v Chelsea the rest have been narrow or lucky wins v teams further down than us so the giving It the big un that they (one In particular) do Is not really warranted for me at the moment so we have a chance to get something...I hope lol
If you genuinely believe that, then you simply don't understand what football is all about. If Rodgers has got even half an eye on the Spurs fixture then he could come a cropper.
They look a different side when they go ahead, so for me the first goal is crucial, if they get an early one, it could be a long evening........ However, if it's tight and the game's still level at HT, then who knows......
Could be, as we start panicking if we don't score in the first half (with good reason). Still think if Lukaku is up for it he can crucify Skrtel, and Mirallas will fancy his chances against Markovic and Moreno on the flanks. We've got to try and overwhelm your two that sit in front of the defence. I think it'll be a hard fought draw.
Game was as I expected It really we wanted not to lose more than we wanted to win...Liverpool were not great because they aren't they have been on a good run but I feel as they face tougher opposition In the coming weeks they will wilt. In short a drab game between 2 teams that will be lucky to get Into the European qualification positions In the league this year..
You defended well and we seemed top lack ideas as the game went on, we're in a good position and will have to continue this run, we really have to beat Spurs. Other games we'll play will be more open which will suit us.
The game was there to be won in the last 20/25 and he waited way too long before making his changes. Naismith was running on empty after an hour and Barry had the worst game I've seen from him in an Everton shirt and was crying out to be hooked. If Moyes had delivered that kind of negative performance he'd have been strung up for it
We look ****e up front full stop at the moment Lukaku cant stay onside... Even though Barkley Is having lapses In concentration we Instantly look a threat as he looks to do something Inventive rather than sideways or backwards we need to get through this season and re group or bomb Martinez out In the summer as our players are better than what we are serving up at the moment..
That was a typical moyes setup and waiting game for subs.... Martinez had been shouted at for being poor at setting up the defensive side, he kept the leagues form side quiet while missing a key outlet in the left. He should have introduced Barkley earlier and holed Barry and Rom..... But they are the decisions he makes. Could be worse, he could have started without a striker like Rodgers
We didn't defend well, we were just not tested. Can was your best player, a CM playing at CB to man mark Lukaku
I disagree there, the plan was clearly for you to get men behind the ball quickly and defend in numbers which limited our attacking options.
Sure you will disagree, but your manager played without a striker and 5 at the back to try and counter our threat down the flanks. His new box bid field looked like it never got let out of the box.
Yeah, some of the tactics from Rodgers yesterday were not the best, Ibe was a threat as was Moreno so it wasn't really a back 5, Allen for Lucas just didn't allow us to get a grip in midfield and Gerrard was just not in the game. I would have started with Sturridge myself to give us that goal threat from the start but hindsight and all that.
