Read in the Sun transfer talk section this morning that Blackpool are chasing Kevin Phillips but also interested are us and Coventry. He's 37 years old, however can score goals. IMO i dont want him, doesn't fit the criteria for me.
we've just bought Adebola who's 36, no truth in this IMO, Phillips is just an older version of Fryatt.
fryatt, simpson, mclean, adebola, cullen. 5 strikers is more than enough. whatever money we've got available id love us to put it on 1 creative midfielder. thats all we're really lacking in the squad. koren could do a job but goes off the boil too often.
Maybe Cullen wull be sent out on loan and MAYBE Jimmy will be the creative midfielder (yes thats a big maybe)
Cullen is poor, even for reserves, Mclean is poor. Adebola, Simpson and Fryatt are for me, the three I would play(as in Fryatt Simpson start and Adebola as something different as a sub) so you never know, I would love this too be true.
bangs them in when ever he plays. Cant see it being us as Dele is going to be our impact player off the bench and would demand quite high wages i reckon. Seems a very Holloway signing though.
I think Cullen will definitely go out on loan. Phillips is one of my all time favourite players, but I can't see us being interested, he'd be playing exactly the same role as Barmby.
Looking at how the team is shaping up, now, I think we should go after Treacey. If not him, then one of the United lads, but Treacey is the proven deal at this level.
Someone to play on the left wing would be my priority. Plenty of midfielders already at the club. McKenna, Harper, Evans, Chester, Olofinjana, Devitt, Koren, Barmby, Stewart!
I'd love us to get Treacy, but I think he might be moving beyond us, Burnley have had about £1m turned down already and Newcastle are apparently after him now.
If we had any money, I'd rather have Jobi McAnuff. Always been a fan, he's a terrific winger. Plus he can play either side, so when Cam comes back, you could use them both.
McAnuff would cost as much as Treacy, though I wouldn't mind either, I hoped we'd go for McAnuff when we got promoted.
Seem 2 remember Phillips sayin his family are settled in The Midlands so Cov cud b a gud shout if he is moving clubs
AGREED. But Hull City may have a deal if Phil Brown fancies some of his old boys like Killer and Macca for instance. After selling SSL they need a defender. We can also offer maybe Cullen and Atkinson out on season long loans to seal the Treacey deal.
Jobi McAnuff would be amazing, but its not going to happen. We need a player who can take on a defender who has proven time and time again he can do it at this level for the right wing. i,e, Wayne Routledge McAnuff, Kebe, Sinclair, Nathan Dyer, all of these players create goals. We need another one!
Barmby and Phillips are totally different types of player. Phillips is an out and out goal scorer and Barmby more a play maker. You can never have enough goal threats in a team.
