We have been a bit like that for years.....last 20 mins at LR are always like a 'we need to go for it' session
The problem with Traore is not his fitness, technical ability or his crippling dependence on his left foot (there seem to be ever more players who are incredibly one footed. What happened to the ambition to improve yourself. George Best made his left foot better than his right with no coaching on the street in Belfast). His problem is his head - he loses concentration entirely frequently and has poor decision making. This is grossly unfair as I have never met him, but I have the overidding impression that he is a weak character, easily led and pretty thick. As for his performance yesterday, if his job really was to cancel out Clyne (I lack the critical skills to spot this) perhaps it was better than I thought, and this does make sense as Clint was always going to struggle without help, but he offered nothing going forward (unless he was great in the first 30 minutes which I missed). When Yun is back I'd play Adel on the left with a bit of licence to wander. He can do a lot of damage there cutting in and it's where he played for Milan.
Result disappointing but there is frankly no need for some of the criticism on here We have been left high and dry by the old dinosaur. A loan or two (and we will certainly need them following the injuries) and that is it. We have to achieve with the players that Redknapp brought in. It's been one game so far. Let's take the positives. We held the best team outside of the galacticos of the PL for 93 minutes and with a bit of luck going our way might have held out. Players who were poor have now exposed themselves to the new coaching team. They won't get many more chances. Of those who were given a fresh start, the consensus seems to be that they made a good start. I'm assuming they won't be dropped on Tuesday night the way Redknapp would have done. I suspect they will improve.
You've just described 70+% of Pro footballers Stan. If Imaz hasn't done a runner, be prepared for an earful after that description.
Paul, you are talking out of your arse. Traore was terrible and just about everyone agrees with that except you. It wasn't so much Caulker's tired pass, although my lad is a better passer of the ball than some of them, it was the fact that he decided to go off on a run towards the left wing in the 92nd minute when he should have knocked it into the corner (if he couldn't see anything else) and held his position. Totally naive and you know it. I don't care what Bosingwa had won before he came here. Whilst here he was a lazy piss taker. Only you thought he was good. I did notice how good Clyne was. I think he could well be England's right back for some time now. Traore got nowhere near him apart from winning some headers. I pay a fortune to watch the games and I am completely entitled to criticise players if they are ****. Traore was ****. Caulker was naive and hopefully he'll learn from it. I can live with someone being naive, but not someone clearly not trying. Saints are a top four side and we should have played out for a hard fought point. You too are very predictable. Aside from the fact that it is predictable that you will nearly always take the opposite view to the majority just to play devil's advocate, you will always talk down to everyone as if you're the only one who knows anything about the game or has played at a decent level. Your arrogance is astounding!
What the fcuk was Caulker thinking? You're paid to defend you twat. Bordering on the criminal. I would have ripped him a new arsehole after the game if I was his manager.
Exactly. We should have learned after the Liverpool game, but clearly we haven't. It must just be a low intelligence thing!
Careful Kerry. The Man Utd thread shows how such activity can cause grief if there's a bloke with a camera phone hanging about
I disagree. No more than the national, or global, average of footballers are thick. But a far greater proportion than normal are poorly educated, and that's what shines through when they are still young. Beckham always came across as thick, now he has a bit more life experience and self confidence off the pitch, he is relatively articulate and thoughtful. Traore though is, I fear, just thick.
You knew I would do this Colly!! (Even Mr Apocalypse must think the World is not at an end.....................................................just yet )
