Cracking card at leps with over E500,000 in prize money and not ONE britsh trainer arsed going for the short trip across the pond.Am I missing something
Great card. Can't wait for it. I put up an each way trixie last night for Sunday's action to take advantage of the each way terms should there be a glut of non runners. Petite Parisienne Windsor Park Apache Stronghold Robbie McNamara was also very keen on Vent De La Cote in the 3.15.
That's a ridiculously good card at Leopardstown. The fact 4 subsequent Festival winners came out of last year's card says it all! The 2.15 looks like it'll shake up the Cheltenham novice race markets, it already has I suppose for Alisio Ville's been absolutely punted off the boards for the Neptune. He'd want to be winning tomorrow, and at 11/8 I'm happy to let him run. The strength in depth against him is pretty formidable. McKinley won a Grade 1, he's 20/1. If Alisio Ville lives up to the hype, expect a very short Neptune favourite tomorrow. Deservedly so, this is a good field. I've no financial interest in this race. Yet! The 2.45 looks even better. Valseur Lido blew me away in the manner of his Drinmore win and that form looks good. I suppose there'd be plenty chancing Apache Stronghold as an 'e/w bet to nothing' but I'm looking at the Un de Sceaux/Gilgamboa form for my e/w selection in the form of the mare Adriana does Mottes 10/1. Hope to see her run well. Plenty will only see soft ground form which might be a worry but she's a Network filly (same as a certain Sprinter Sacre) so I'm hopeful better ground won't stop her running well. In the Hennessey I backed Boston Bob 4/1 at the start of the week. Ruby deserting him is hardly a positive though! Lol In the juvenile race I'm hoping Kalkir wins as I'm already on for the Triumph at fancy prices *alert alert* lol Gordon Elliot's one has been talked up a fair bit and Kalkir has it to prove after his St Stephens Day defeat. Looks a match to me. Worth bearing in mind the last 2 renewals had the late Our Conor winning and Tiger Roll was second last year. The winner will command plenty of respect in the Cotswolds next month. Good luck. Hopefully it's another cracking day with Festival clues aplenty.
It's like comparing Scotish premier league to English Premier league! Apart from the odd race here and there Irish racing just isn't as good
Irish racing over jumps is just the Willie Mullins show and on the flat it's Aiden O Brien. And personally I don't think the Irish equivalents of the English classics hold anywhere near the same prestige. Just my opinion Bob I just don't see it in the same light as I do British racing
Feck it..had a short story written on tomorrow's racing but made a balls of it when trying to post and can't be arsed writing it again. 1.15 - Vercingetorix 2/1 1.45 - All You Need 14/1 2.15 - Nichols Canyon 6/1 Short and sweet. Good luck guy's. Edit: In the Novice chase I think Valseur Lido will prove very difficult to stop but Shannahan's Turn at 16/1 back at a trip he will appreciate more is a live contender and at the price I'm happy with 16/1 each way.
Some of today's winnings will be invested on Lord windermere. Not to bothered if he doesn't win its a pipe opener for the gold cup. Btw has anyone else won four gold cups
Now I have rarely if ever had a pop at another forum member in my four happy years on here but I have to say i find badgers remarks regarding irish racing as 'scottish football standard' ignorant and insulting.I was gona write a list of reasons why his comment was ridicolous but I couldnt be arsed as most folk on here would be aware why irish racing is held so high.I do take your point that Mullins does have a very strong hand in the jumps department.I expected more from a seasoned member but there you go.ok rant over, time for motd and a beer.
Honeyball had a winner and all today...stable hitting form at the right time, tomorrow could be the day stick. B.Murray riding as well
In the Hennessy tomorrow can't look past Foxrock good value, holds some very good form and we don't know how good he actually is has seemed to bossed the handicap division and improvement looks likely plus I can't really see any of this field winning at the festival
Boris I fully agree with rule the world he is an absolute class act and I hope with better ground tomorrow it will help. Carling Ford lough is my main bet tomorrow but also having a play on identity thief
Pop away Ste, I was just giving an opinion that's what forums are for. It would be a very boring world if everyone agreed all of the time. You might think it's ridiculous but that's just how I feel about Irish racing. Of the people I know who bet on racing, family, friends and colleagues I don't know of one of them (other than myself) who even look at the Irish cards let alone bet on them. My grandad who is 94 and has been betting on racing since he was old enough to do so usually has the response 'bloody hell lad you'll bet on owt' when I tell him I've backed an horse in Ireland. If you're insulted by what I put then I can only assume you're Irish and have taken it as a slight against the country, that wasn't my intention and I apologise if you've taken it that way I don't come on here to have a go at people or insult anyone but if we can't share our thoughts and opinions then what's the point in having an open forum. I didn't say that I don't like Irish racing I reguarly have a punt on them and will be doing so today, I just don't hold it in the same regard as I do British racing.
