Credit where it's due, he played great today, but he doesn't give his all every game, he certainly didn't against west ham or Newcastle. That said, I'd start him on Tuesday, no question.
I'm not blaming him at all - it looked like a brilliant free kick, just seemed like we had a lot of players in our wall when so close to the box, he must have seen it very late!
I'm not sure he'd have got to it anyway. Right next to the post. I did expect to see the Nasri free kick (that he claimed very well with Aguero running in) to ripple the net, at which point I was going to call for him to do an extra 30 minutes after every training session saving 20-30 yard free kicks (problem being that our dead-ball delivery would have seen him save them all and garner him with a whiff of invincibility).
Of course he does. Thats what his game is. Soemtimes he doesnt play well but his attitude and effort should never be questioned.
This was a great backs to the wall defensive performance, but Tuesday's game against Villa will be totally different. Defensively the lads stepped up today, on Tuesday our attack will have to do the same.
Tuesday Fixtures; Arsenal v Leicester Hull City v Aston Villa Sunderland v QPR Wednesday Fixture; Man Utd v Burnley What an opportunity that could / should be and next weekend's fixtures are non too shabby either. Hope today has boosted the lads enough to get a couple of results this week.
Our best defensive performance of the year and an amazing team effort. Milner's free kick was unstoppable. No blame for McG on that one. The criticism of Huddlestone by a certain individual on here is way out of line. In fact he probably played his best game of the season. Alex again showed what a gamer he is against the top teams. Macca deserves to keep his place too...a real fighter. Same as Meyler...never gives up...and a great opportunist goal. Impossible to criticize anyone today. Well done lads. Now lets take six points off Villa and QPR and breathe easier!!
There's part of me that hopes QPR win that one. Otherwise you just know that it doesn't matter how well we play we're going to be the side that ends their 12 game winless run away from home.
