I dunno about being very upset if we don't get it but I tell you what - I think we have a chance now. We have left Chelsea and Arsenal well beaten in the last few weeks. I know it's typical Spurs to do that then lose to Palace or someone but there is a lot of promise with this strong home-grown spine in particular. And in fact so many of the players have something to prove and are young and eager. Is Dier going to be the next youngster to be given his chance and then put in performances to keep that place long-term? I hope and suspect so. I give credit to Pochettino for creating a team that looks somewhat settled now with a good team spirit, good competition for places, great work ethic. Still think that we lack some creative guile going forward and would be extremely worried if anything happened to either Eriksen or Kane but at least Pochettino seems to be finding a way to get something decent out of what he has.
We've found a consistent goal-scoring forward. That's what we've always been missing. Is it really that surprising that, having found him, we now look like a team that can challenge? All of us have been saying it for a long time.
Hhaha ****ing battered them all game, would've been a joke if we hadn't won. At half time it was starting to feel a bit like last season when we lost despite being the better side. Well done all
I think today just highlights even more just how far up ****e creek we will be if Kane cops an injury! We really should have brought in adequate backup in the window, IMO.
He barely touched the ball when he came on for the last 15. There was that 1 through ball that he mis-controlled but that was it.
Bravo, Very emotional , tears in the eyes , legs are like jelly , Outstanding performance , all were heroes , I love you all A exhausted Sid , sold his house , moving on Friday , buying a farm in Suffolk but very stressful and bloody expensive move , nothing left under the mattress , but today I am in heaven.
We'd certainly miss him when teams park the bus like Arsenal but we've got plenty of fire power behind the striker we looked dangerous all game. Rose and Lamela were excellent, I felt, as was Mason, Bentaleb and Vertonghen. I think the difference all game was that we were quicker to the second ball.
We do have a team on our hands. Winning the most points from the NLD is the first really solid accomplishment we've had since getting a CL spot. I can't find the last time we did in the thirty seconds I patiently devoted to the search. Big players win big games, and it's looking like we have two in Kane and Eriksen. Bentaleb is growing by the hour it seems, as well. He put the ball on Kane's forehead from 35 yards, and missed getting a goal himself by inches. Fantastic team performance, with the Academy boys the standouts, and Kane particularly. I'm not sure I'd swap him for any striker in the world. Leading the league in goals in all comps is great, but scoring two against our two biggest rivals is truly special. And the last, lobbing the keeper into the far side netting from 10 yards, in the 86th minute? Amazing. I first saw Kane in Baltimore. I wondered why everything seemed to be focused on him, when he was a youth team type.
Today we played extremely well - though Arsenal did seem content to let us play, which always helps. What impressed me most was our energy - browsing the Arsenal forum, they were all waiting for us to get tired but we never did. All through the match right to the end, we ran and pressed them everywhere. If any one Spurs player gets criticism today, then it would have to be Lamela as I don't think he offered enough. But still, a great overall team performance. Now the next test is our current bogey team in Liverpool...
Evening, people. Did not see the game but caught a fair bit on 5 Live and it seems we were all over them. Bold by Pochettino to go for Dier at CB too. Also that line-up was such a young side for Spurs. Today has also convinced me Adebayor is finished at Spurs The return of Bentaleb from the ACON to front up in an NLD when he could by rights have asked for rest, (in contrast to the ACON antics of 2 yrs ago) , coupled with Kane giving 100% whenever he pulls on the shirt, is enough for me.
When we consider that Arsenal were steamrollering everybody with thirteen goals in four matches and to win like that over an in form team it's nothing short of brilliant. We are improving at the right time.
Imagine claiming a year ago that Bentaleb and Mason would dominate Arsenal's midfield. You'd have sounded mental.
THis is the big bonus and surprise, producing our own talent and nurturing it to 1st team level; brilliant!
And still perhaps Carroll / Pritchard / Veljkovic to make it to the seniors. That would be over half of the U21 class of 2012-13.
If I had made such a claim, I would have been hounded as a "village idiot" and as having said something that would "come back to bite me" by a certain Gooner, whose name I shall not mention on this board.
It is a long long time since I walked out of the Lane feeling as happy as I did a few hours ago. The place was jumping today and a thoroughly deserved win. What I really liked was we went at them right from the start and maintained our tempo throughout. Some very impressive performances today with the midfield dominating. Harry Kane was immense and worked his wotsits off for the full 90 minutes. Excellent stuff.
