Rookery Mike @RookeryMike 14m14 minutes ago Safe journey home to Gary Bowyer & his brave #BRFC heroes, it's a long way back to the 1980's where he and his football resides. There was plenty of comment about Gary Bowyer and the way he was getting at the lino. He didn't impress JM or DP with his antics. Some of their comments about the players trying to break the game up before we scored also suggest that they had been coached to play in that way. Unfortunately the ref was very weak, and sounded as if he reacted to players who got in his face.

I think part of their training involved watching last night's match at the Millenium Stadium. very cynical tactics today. Deeney and Ighalo should enter the world piggy back championships as they had enough practice today
the way the top 3 are getting results i dont see us getting in the top 2 i think we could get 4th beat brentford over 2 legs and stuff bournemouth in the final (as long as norwich stop mr c wilson in the other semi so he cant play in the final ) ok dreaming over lol
I'll take that. Horrible, horrible football from B'burn. I thought the ref was poor too, but I'll take a scrappy win.
Gomes Man Of the Match says it all. Blackburn physical and in our face and played the weak ref. Blackburn pressed us for much of the match and when we did attack there was a large gap between our midfield and attack many times. Many of the second balls throughout the match were won by Blackburn. We were lucky to get the result on the balance of play and chances but we did play and battle for the team and so deserved the win.
Slav was right to point out the dangers of Blackburn and their style although they did play some decent football too. Certainly one of our hardest matches physically this season and really we didn't cope that well - thank goodness Gomes was on form. Midfield got lost at times and the likes of Paredes were caught out too easily out wide. But we won and well that is the key!
It was a rather poor game. Our passing was terrible for much of the game... But then at least they were trying to pass. Blackburn had their game plan... Very physical, even though they also went down rather easy. Plus it was just long ball all the time. Not sure they could make a challenge without some kind of physical contact, legal or not. For the sake of their fans, I hope that was just a game plan for us rather then every game. Well done to the boys for grinding out a win against a tough team. Could be a very big 3 points Also thought the ref was quite poor again. Very inconsistent with the fouls he gave and the yellow cards.
As far as I am concerned 3 point is 3 points - but the lumps kicked out of our team plus the neck ache from the bombardment means the physio will be claiming overtime. Hope all are recovered for Tuesday!
We were lucky to get anything out of that game and Gomes as man of the match says it all. Whilst we can moan about how Blackburn played, we should have been better and took them apart. Our passing and running was abysmal all afternoon, time after time we passed straight to the opposition - and how any professional footballer can take a foul throw is beyond me! If we have pretensions of being promoted, we have to take on and beat these teams more comfortably. If I was one of their travelling supporters travelling back up the M6, I would count myself as being very unlucky! But their bench was a disgrace and the ref and 4th official should have sorted them out.
I noticed the ref gave a lot of fouls and even bookings once somebody appealed - he seemed very young and easily influenced. Least it didn't matter I guess this time!
Bitty gritty ugly win against a big physical uncompromising team with the tactics to match. And with yet another incompetent numpty in the middle. Wins like this are such a rarity I'm gobsmacked we managed it. I just hope it's not necessary to win in this manner too often this season. COYH.
Didn't to me either although I wasn't in line. Not convinced that the officials got as much right as they should have all afternoon. Conspicuous by their presence.
Sitting in the Rookery, it did look like Ighalo was goal-side of the defender when the cross came in, so thought the offside was probably right... the footage doesn't really show it though.
