Of course it's different, everything we do is decided in consultantion with our members, we're a democracy, not a dictatorship.
When questions have been asked previously, the answer was that not everything can go to consultation.
Dont you realise how off putting this high handed attitude is? Also you often refer to the club knowing who you are. Do you think Allam or any businessman running the club would sit down with you after all the abusive comments you and fellow ctwd committee have made towards him?
At some point, Hull City will have an owner that sees the fans as an important part of the club, rather than an irritation. It's simply common sense for a business owner to listen to his customers, even Vincent Tan finally figured that out. That's also just my opinion.
Unfortuntely for you lot, I think the FA will approve the name change, because allam did a survey and it showed that most Hull fans dont give a monkeys, as we have always had a tiger bred into the club. Newspapers call us the tigers and fo puns with our name. We play in black & amber stripes FFS...just get over it
I agree a chairman needs to listen to fans. It remains to be seen if 'you' can claim to represent them.
I'm confused now. I thought he was going to Germany to study, stopped off in Hull to see his sister and never left. What's the story jackanory?
I don't think I've posted abusive comments about the owner, I've criticised the ridiculous rebrand and his approach to dealing with fans generally, but I don't think I've been abusive(though I suppose that depends on what terms you consider abusive). I also don't think it's heavy handed to say that if he'd engaged with fans, rather than fighting them, he'd have had a much easier ride and would have achieved better results.
All this about being nasty to poor old Assem is ridiculous. The guy has brought all this on himself, he deserves every word of criticism he gets. The ****. Everyone loved him at first, some changed their mimd when he started sacking everyone willy nilly, a lot more changed their mind when he started ****ing about with the club's name and branding us hooligans. It's entirely driven by his own actions. He's behaved like a ****, so people will call him a ****. His ideal scenario is for everyone to be scared into doing what he says without question, and that's obviously how it works at City. He hates the fact he can't control the fans, well most of us anyway. That should never change. If fans didn't question owners they'd get away with a lot more of this kind of bullshit.
f**k off the guy saved the club from liquidation, end of! if it wasn't for allam you wouldn't even have a name to discuss!
I would open the door for discussions. I would look at ways of working together and would see if they were all mouth and no trousers. I would be open to any suggestions they had to make. The alternative is more of what we have now. We are a lower third Premier League team which will struggle for the next 5 years to avoid relegation. Our income isn't going to increase significantly (other then the TV money) and we are at or about our wage limit. It would take the wages of two McShanes to get a mid-table replacement. We have no youth coming through. Why would anyone look at a long term sponsorship deal with a team that doesn't use it's name and has festering discontent in the stands? A club that embraces its fans and talks to the council may well be able to develop a long term relationship with Siemens and the businesses that comes in their wake. HCST isn't perfect, as you and I well know over the evictions, but it is an opportunity, despite everything, to get the fans together and give them a stronger voice. There are many people in it with talent as proved by the name change campaign. It now has to earn the trust of people that didn't mind the name change and that takes a lot more work. If the doesn't find a way to do that it will not be successful in my eyes. Do I think Assem Allam will talk to the trust? No, because nobody tells him what to do and he expects everybody to help him with being asked.
I'd argue that's an alternative, as opposed to the alternative. Another option would be a more representative supporters group without the associated baggage and sub-plots.
I think if Gretton becomes chairman of the new supporters trust its a nail in the coffin and it'll lose all credibility and any chance of being a meaningful force. It will be interesting to see if there are more than one nominee for each post as there was for the ctwd committee.
Our problem is made worse with competing supporters' groups, especially when the club is full of dissent as ours is. At present we have the OSC and HCST. One is seen as being too close to the Allams and the other as being too far away. In theory there should be room for something in the middle but what happens when the first contentious thing happens and the middle ground sides with the fans, or sides with the Allams? The middle ground will be difficult to occupy if the club does not use the name Hull City. The solution, difficult as it is to see it happening, is for the Allams and HCST to move towards each other. There is no victory outside this. We are a small club which needs us all pulling in roughly the same direction to keep what we've achieved, owners, the managers, players and supporters. That means give and take on both sides.
