Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is ready to launch a £27 million move for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema with the proceeds of the sales of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri. Skipper Fabregas is on the verge of his £34m switch to Barcelona while Manchester City are confident that £19m Nasri will soon be following Gael Clichy to Eastlands. Forward Benzema is the star signing Wenger wants to use to soften the blow of losing his influential midfield do. The Gunners boss wants a top striker to share the goalscoring responsibility with injury prone Robin van Persie. The 24-year-old France international is also seen as a key factor in showing the next generation of talent at the Emirates that star players are still seeing the potential to win trophies at the club, despite the current spate of exits. Benzema is not for sale on the cheap, but Real would sell a player who was in and out of Jose Mourinho's first-team plans last season.
Wenger has wanted Benzema for years and despite what 'Jayram' might tell you he would be perfect for Arsenal. He's 6'1 quick and aggressive and I think he would complement Van Persie (when fit) perfectly.

bonstar wandit, isn't Mata a winger? and I don't think Benzema would like to sit on the bench. if we get him, expect us to go back to a 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1- or 4-2-3-1 with v. Persie behind him
plays primarily left wing for Valencia, can play as an AM. i've just got no idea who'se going to replace Fabregas really. Nasri possibly if he stays, Ramsey sure but he's very young, there needs to be competition. A change in formation could work, with RvP & Benzema up front. Arshavin as AM maybe!? so many questions!!
Is this for real or is Wenger just trying to placate the fans? I doubt if we could afford his wages anyway.

I hope we buy Pastore but I knowing Wenger he will just promote Ramsey. Ordinarily I wouldn't mind but I am so ****ing tired of not replacing our good players with ones of equal quality, Ramsey is not ready yet!
