Newbury has a few decent races. Coneygree is pretty short at 3/1 to win the Denman but it wouldn't surprise me at all if he came up trumps. It looks a fairly classy race without being top tree stuff and I for one would love it if we had him in the Cheltenham Gold Cup which means he'll need to be winning tomorrow. Calipto will appreciate the juice in the ground and looks to me to be very well handicap. He could be up to winning the Betfair Hurdle. 7/1 is fair. Sire De Grugy faces quite a stiff task if he's not up to scratch in the Game Spirit. I hope all the nostalgics have learnt their lesson with Sprinter Sacre the other week. Taking odds on in this scenario is so risky it's untrue. Far better to either watch the race or back one of Mr Mole or Uxizandre. I hope SDG comes back to his best but I doubt we're going to see him at his peak tomorrow. I've had an each way ante post trixie for the racing in Ireland on Sunday to take advantage of each way 1,2,3 terms before we have a glut of withdrawals. Petite Parisienne at 8/1, Windsor Park at 8/1 and Apache Stronghold at 9/2. Best of luck with your selections this weekend lads.
All over CALIPTO in the handicap hurdle tomorrow. Only horse in the race who could possibly be "well handicapped". 6/1 each way paying five places at Paddy Power is a total no brainer in my humble opinion! What a fantastic card it is at Newbury with CONEYGREE, SIRE DE GRUGY and KINGS PALACE all putting their Cheltenham credentials on the line!
Like many, I managed to bag free bet for first C4 race and I'm with the good doctor and his new recruit. Fascinating racing tomorrow and I'm expecting a few long price winners, including in the Betfair, where I like Wicklow Brave.
Down south for the weekend but a few cheltenham selections are running and will be backing this weekend also. Taquin du seuil in the Denman. He is still unexposed you can scrub a line through his last run as horse and stable weren't right. Is receiving 5 lbs from the others (bar the novice) and ground conditions will be perfect. This will be a stepping stone towards the gold cup but he should be too classy for these. Vilbrato Valtat in the kingmaker should take all the beating, he should be 4/4 this season but STD had a lapse in judgement and he was beaten on his first start. Jumps superbly and travels really well and should be winning this before a crack at the arkle. Other selections would be glens melody to win the mares race at Warwick for 2nd year running. Sire degrugy should have too much pace for Uxizandre and I'm not sold on Mr Mole just yet. In the betfair hurdle I'm throwing darts at Arzal and the fast improving Lightentertainment.
My picks for the Terrestrial TV races: 1:50 NBY Milan Bound 4/1 2:05 WAR Vibrato Valtat 6/5 2:25 NBY Taquin Du Seuil 9/2 2:40 WAR Glens Melody 11/10 3:00 NBY Sire De Grugy 10/11 3:35 NBY Sign Of A Victory ew (nap) 12/1
I hope Coneygree put 's in a good performance tomorrow, you can put a line through that last run the race was gifted to him although he still would have won. I look forward to seeing what he does if put under a little more pressure in this sphere and how he handles it.
I've backed Activial for the betfair hurdle at 7/1 ya's are making me nervous with your Calipto love.
Ling 2.35 Picansort 16/1 3.10 Swing Alone 12/1 3.45 Ballista 14/1 Newb 1.50 Tempest River 18/1 3.35 Ballyboley 25/1 4.40 Final Nudge 16/1
I'm going to put it out there and say Sire De Grugy will get beat tomorrow by Mr Mole they will run him from the front and will exploit SDG lack of fitness like doodging bullets did to SS
2.25 Newbury - TAQUIN DU SEUIL - 4/1 Like most I hope Coneygree puts a performance in to enhance his cheltenham chances but can't get away from TDS , not only is the stable in red hot form but he has some of the best form and was a G1 winning novice as well know his latest flop can easily be forgiven for a whole number of reasons- but he will like the ground should stay the 3m and it should bring out more improvement in him which will make him very hard to beat
Good luck with that dream Wooly, I am in the other camp. They will need to have SIRE DE GRUGY close to spot on tomorrow. I do not believe they would bring him back half-baked. Under normal circumstances he could pick these up and carry them. Coming back from injury he may have to settle for winning by three lengths!
Lesson learnt with Sprinter the other week completely different I know but IMO they feel a pressure to get him back on the course it wasn't so long ago there was doubt a for Cheltenham you don't go from that to being nr 100% in a few weeks and like with sprinter if he is going to get beat it will be tomorrow he's not going to be 100% where as the others will be 110% and based on those points that is my reasoning on him getting beat
