On the BBC you can compare your wage to that of some footballers I entered a nominal wage of 25000 and it takes Ronaldo and Rooney under 18 minutes to earn that equivelent "weekly wage" and they wonder what is wrong with football

It's a load of ****. None of the options carry an average premiership wage. All chelsea, Man U and Man City.

I don't think the article is designed to highlight "average premiership players" they are talking about the top earners

came out as 3 years for them to earn mine! I wish!!!! :emoticon-0140-rofl:

Good luck to them, just wish the tickets were a bit cheaper as the revenue impact of them is now minimal compared to the TV money!

At least you can see what they do or not do at work unlike the very well paid people who have lost millions and millions of other peoples hard earned money with no recourse what so ever , ie endowments and pensions in my case .

I heard on the radio this morning that the TV negotiations for the prem (2016 -2020?) start today they were talking a lot of wonga - they were expecting the Prem to receive multi millions per match something like 7-8 million per station I think he said

Yeah, I heard that article as well - it's getting mental now. Wonder when the TV cashcow will move on to pastures new? It used to be Italy, then Spain ( I think ) before Sky settled on England and the EPL was born - whole game will be in the mire if they decide to move on, to USA for example, where they can get the same viewing revenues for less payment - the leeches ( agents ) and players will follow the money even if it is less!

This notion of a "short career" really ****s me off. Football career over? Right, go and do something else you poncy little twat.

No-one says to me: "Sid, you've done your job for over thirty years, here's a few million quid so you don't have to work again".

It's the same throughout the entertainment business though - they could have said compare your wages to a pop star or a film star, etc. The bottom line is, these guys entertain thousands in grounds and millions on t.v. every week. We can hardly grumble when they're paid entertainers money for doing that.

I'm one of those who remembers Frank Sinatra earning millions and living the good life up in Bel Air. Meanwhile, Stanley Matthews, who was arguably famous in more different countries than Sinatra, was earning £19 a week and catching a corporation bus down to Bloomfield Rd. to earn it. I never want to see those days back again.
