I can't help but thinks that this Public meeting will descend into a publicity stunt for the trust and the message that I as a fan want put across will be lost amongst the ego and the banal. For example as far as I know nobody on this board has been asked to attend or even represent our views. That is in contrast to the immediate invite purportedly sent out to ITTV where Reams proudly declared he was offered 'a seat at the top table'. Now for some 'technical difficulties' that thread was lost. (Like others that suddenly go missing - on that site) Why has this site been ignored by the trust who proclaimed to want to reach out to as many as possible? They know we are here as we are mentioned in dispatches and barbie and many of the others all have accounts here. I'm feeling that we are not wanted.
I agree. It is disappointing to date, I have asked members of the Trust to join this great site & start a dialogue on here. My fear is that the whole event will become a talking shop for the usual self important minority, who's credentials are miniscule but who's egos are massive. CAST is no more than a facilitator of this event. Well done and all that for getting the ball rolling, but genuine inclusivity means a say for those on here.
All the more reason why as many of us as possible should go. The majority of fans aren't interested in joining a trust (yet), or in the G21, or even in joining forums like this, but they are the ones who will vote with their feet, as Douchey will find out when season tickets go on sale. I hope this happens at Le Douche's other clubs too, then maybe we can drive out the parasite. Katrien's view is that these bodies are not representative of the fans, and we have to ensure the meeting is representative.
Yeah....that can happen. That's exactly what Barbie Razil said. A man of the people and a finger on the pulse... You have posted on ITTV? The trust have visited us looking for a fiver though and never came back. My point is that this site has 20,000 visits a day from proper football nerds, I do not know how many CAFC fans but a fair few. If the trust are dishing out tickets for a top table then someone (and we have a pair of outstanding candidates plus very capable understudies) from here should represent our view. Very few on here belong to a trust, many prefer the freedom of movement that this site brings. Whilst G21 and CAST have their appeal, I think they will end up stabbing each other in the back. They can't work together no matter what olive branches are extended.
I am a bit pissed off with the Tweet that CAST has put out this morning bragging that they have hit 2,000 members this week. Their FACILITATION of this event isn't about them.
I have Tweeted CAST to pull their fingers out & get this site on board. If the whole thing becomes about them it is pointless. #DuchateletOut
There is an inevitable crossover between CAST and the 'G21' group but neither are setting the agenda here. CAST are simply responding to fans concerns and facilitating the meeting. I can't think of any possible reason to suggest that this is not a positive development. Just get along on the night and make your views known. Better still, have some ideas prepared in advance as I have a feeling there is going to be a good attendance!
According to Reams as soon as the trust 'facilitated' a public meeting he was invited by the trust to sit at the 'top table' the post has now 'disappeared' it is clear that the trust know that Reams is an idiot and if you give him a bib he will dribble. By already allocating seats (and ultimately you are saying that these lot will run things) you have established an unelected hierarchy and this totally pisses on any notion of a fair and reasoned debate between supporters who actively seek out each other to discuss the concerns of our club. Once again the trust is into self promotion rather than the bigger picture. The recent embarassment of the trust's meeting Katrien suggests that they are weak and just biscuit munching. Therefore do not tell me that Cast or G21 do not have an agenda, they are empire building and jockeying for fame. If you build a trust don't build it upon lies and flattery and I am afraid that is how it has been from the start.
Help what? I would like to see proposals and be part of something that has no hidden agenda? the trust met Katrien recently and asked her why Bovril ran out in the East stand - and you expect that sort of thumb screw interrogation to worry Roly?
In all fairness, they should have set this out like Parliament. In a circle. One person is elected beforehand as "The Speaker," people make statements, and you can judge how people feel, given the cheers or the jeers.
Agree that the idea of a "top table" is probably the wrong way to go about it, but perhaps that is not the intention and it's just Paul May puffing out his chest. That said a firm chair will be needed and the obvious person for that role is the chariman of the Supporters Trust. Firm chairing is vital because first, everyone knows what they are against but I've not heard any coherent explanation of what is to be done about it or even what the aims and objectives are. And secondly, a tight reign will need to be kept on those who simply wish to hurl abuse at Duchatalet and Meire. Some of the things written about them on message boards have sailed dangerously close to being libellous, and I have seen it reported that the owners of both Blackpool and Forest are suing supporters who have abused them via social media.
Kent were you at the game when the chair of the trust was given a microphone to talk to the fans? Believe me it was the most embarrassing thing outside of the preliminaries of the X factor. He and microphones don't go. Nobody knows what proposals are being put forward and unless we know who from here will represent us at the meeting how can I even support it. Already proxy votes are being proposed on some sites ??!!! Do they even know what they are voting on? So I need a safe pair of hands like nick and dick who I will listen too and ignore completely if they disagree with me. The chance to be heard is What I want.
I believe this to be a common misconception. There is a body called the Fans Forum which provides feedback to the club about the matchday experience but it is separate from the Trust. I think there may be a CAST member of the FF but I might be wrong. It is the FF that discussed the catering, but unless I am mistaken (and if I am I apologise) the Trust has not met with Ms Miere
I've been ferreting around on other message boards to see if there is any further exposition of what the aims and objectives of this meeting are, other than the 'airing of views' and 'agreeing a unified and appropriate supporters response' as mentioned in the original statement. I found this from the Trust's Richard Hunt: "We are seeking an explanation from RD as to what it (i.e. the business plan) is, so that we can decide whether it is likely to secure the long term future of Charlton Athletic Football Club. Nothing more, nothing less ,as far as the Supporters Trust is concerned." This I find depressing. First, I don't think it is solely about the business plan, "nothing more, nothing less". Secondly, I don't think Richard Hunt, the Trust or we as fans more generally, are in any position to decide whether the business plan "is likely to secure the long term future of CAFC". We can't conduct our own 'due diligence' on the owner and I think this approach of trying to act like we're a bunch of chartered accountants and auditors shunts us up a siding. Or have I misunderstood what Richard Hunt has said?
