Well it was an exaggeration but it is also quite a steep difference to be fair (0.81 goals per game verses 0.48). Though about half a goal per game is pretty good in itself and only overshadowed by the crazy 112 goals in 4 seasons - am I correct in recalling there were more goals a season then? Think so but really can't be arsed to check.

His scoring record is loads better at Blackburn but that was 4 years playing for a team that were competing in large part at the top of the table, whereas Newcastle were sometimes up there, sometimes down in the bottom half. Also, his last 3 or 4 years as he faded towards retirement obviously yielded less goals than his peak years at Blackburn. It's hardly surprising.

Just to get back on task a bit here I would be amazed if many people did actually want a statue of him, he didn't win anything with us and was manager for a short time in which we got relegated. An odd choice being pushed by people with short memories. I appreciate his efforts for us but this is a nothing story - I think.
