Why OFITG didnt make that list is a joke - for me over 6 series and countless xmas specials there were only 2 average episodes OFITG was writing at its greatest and that it was a comedy just makes it so much better I dont believe it !
I agree with everything BCC has said in this thread. The Office is the greatest comedy of my generation. I cant describe how bone shakingly hilarious I found it. "I think there's been a rape up there!..."
I remember i loved the Office. It was soo funny with all the characters. However how has Inbetweeners not won the best brit show. So good they even made 2 films from it!
Anyone who has ever been in a managerial (even if junior) role is lying if they said that they didn't see a bit of Brent's personality in themselves. They might not admit it but.....
Most of the OFITG series were made over 20 years ago. Only one series (I think it was the last one) was made in the last 20 years. You're older than you think.
Inbetweeners is another one that's hilarious, I watched every series, back to back, with my lad over a couple of weeks, we drove the missus ****ing mental, it's definitely a lads thing.
A bit? I have trotted this line out to the people who work for me dozens and dozens of times; "You will never work for someone like me ever again, I am basically a chilled out entertainer" They haven't the faintest.
The Office is a great show. Gervais' stand up is a bit hit & miss. His films are ****in' awful I'd go with Peep Show.
Do you like Parks and Recreation? It's similar, the people in my old office used to tell me all the time I was just like Ron.
No pal, you're definitely mistaken, the series that beats all is The Soprano's, not British and not comedy, but definitely the best.
If i may extend this debate to, THE BESTEST TV SERIES EVER !!! I'd have to go for, Monty Pythons flying cirCus...
Trailer Park Boys is my favourite show, doesn't get much coverage in the UK other than Netflix but its my type of humour
Well, if we're extending this out of British comedy, then Band of Brothers beats all. As did everyone else. Fancy telling them too? Oh no, of course not.
The Office was genius. Whether or not it was good comedy, I wouldn't know. It's observation of office stereotypes was superb however. Brent was probably the most clichéd and least accurate portrayal. Gareth, Dawn and Lee are instantly recognisable from offices up and down the country. The best portrayed however is Chris Finch. Typical mean-spirited, obnoxious, **** of a salesman. One up the bum, no harm done.
