The character 'Kev' in Derek is funny.

The show in general is a bit weak, IMO.

    The Office was ground breaking.

It was a masterpiece of observational comedy which showed the flaws (and some positives) of the human personality.

Did I mention that I met Ricky G in NYC?

    No?

    Well I did.

Really humble, down the earth bloke. He couldn't have been any more pleasant, a real gent.

    As for The Office?

    Comedy genius.

    IMO.

Looks like split vote on The Office but I have to say that I found it outstanding and, at times, as funny as ****. How can anyone not find the scene where he dances hilarious.

Over the years I've worked in many offices with characters similar to those on the show. Maybe that's why young 'uns and Americans can't see the humerous side of it, maybe they haven't had a similar life experience.

As for Lambo, well he obviously has no sense of humour ;)

I haven't said I didn't like The Office, I just said I though Partridge and Brass Eye were better.

I starting watching the repeats of it a few years ago and I recall my son, who was around 8 or 9 at the time, saying how boring it was and nothing happened. It annoyed the **** out of me at the time to be honest.

He's coming up for 13 now and has just sat through both series and found them hilarious.

He redeemed himself and shows he's growing up.

You keep referring to "your version". It wasn't our version it was the original. The American copies are versions.

I've never been fortunate enough to meet him but what you've posted doesn't surprise me in the slightest. He's also a massive animal lover, no not that type Bob, which also makes him alright by me.

each to their own opinion , but i think the office was one of the best observational comedies ever written -
Gervais stole large lumps from "operation good guys" thats clear to see , but he gave us characters i see all the time at work -
When Gervais wrote Extras you can see the massive similarities in Larry Davids " Curb your Enthusiasm" - which i consider the best US sitcom ive seen since SOAP.

I wonder sometimes if ppl ever understand the characters Gervais writes about , and probably why his work is loved and hated in equal measures .

A modern classic, maybe you need to work in a certain type of office but I remember my manager, who likes to hold court like he's also an entertainer, declared it **** which made it even funnier
