While I was on night shift last night I had the misfortune of putting this station in the early hours of this morning only to here an imbecile called Mike Parry and another bloke called Mike Graham spending a whole section of their show dedicated to slagging off everything about Sunderland without having the slightest idea what they were talking about. If I was in the area where this broadcast took place I would have been waiting for them to leave the studio to Give Mike Parry in particular a slapping..
That's abut rich coming from a Everton fan and Chelsea fan. Let the fat ****s talk away. Rather live up here than foreign London.
Makes you wonder how 40,000 people manage to turn up every match ...... must be selling their babies to childless southern couples
Got to say that Parry was the main instigator in this...I can't recall that I have ever listened to such an ignorant uneducated moron on a radio show before..
The last time we drove up we tried a little experiment and thought we'd look at the journey, to the SOL, as an away supporter. This was in response to the inevitable 'Sunderland's a ****hole' chants we've had. We came up the A19, past the North Yorks Moors, and off after the bridge over the Wear. We drove along the north bank of the river, past the neat little shipyard cottages, and parked near the Harbour View.. As we walked along the seafront we could see the harbour and the boats bobbing around. On the walk up through the fully occupied terraced streets we were joined by more & more supporters. Few, if any, were barefoot or wearing castoffs .......... I swear I even saw a man with a trilby
I always stay at the Roker Hotel when I'm up. Very agreeable location on the seafront near Roker Park. A ****hole it ain't...
Sunderland's not my town and, in reality means nothing to me apart from the football team, I'm proudly Durham. That said, I've been pleasantly surprised when we've stayed over, often at the same hotel as you, and spent time there. It's no Oxford or Bath but it pisses all over much of London, Liverpool, Birmingham etc.
I'm from Shields, which is much the same as Sunderland, only more expensive these days. Lived in Cleadon when I was a toddler and that's got really expensive.
Talkshite could produce some really good shows but they go out of their way to be controversial so they get more folk phoning in.
I don`t understand this thread. I fail to see how anyone can tune into talkshite and actually listen to it for any longer than it takes to realise what it is. 5 seconds should be more than enough.
'Shift work' is your answer mate ............ we used to bet what time the rat would crawl along the telegraph wire
