He is a good player he just needs to go on a run of scoring , injury no doubt unsettled his season but he will be vital in the final push.
If we don't go up I imagine he will want out like a few others, this season is important not only financially but to keep our best players like Ruddy Olsson Johnson Howson Redmond Jerome & Hooper.

    Jerome 14
    Grabban 7
    Johnson 7
    Hooper 6

Seeing as Jerome started late for us his tally is impressive Grabban was on fire from the start but has hit a dry patch as well as being on the bench Hooper missed a few months with injuries but I would hope he gets 10 to 15 goals at least to be considered our main striker.
Compared to last season in the prem we have been spoilt by the number of goals so far.

Rickie Lambert would be the best Holt type player we could get , the situation should have never been allowed to happen that we lost Mr H in the first place, I blame Calderwood who I see has joined his mate at Brighton that will screw them up completely

To be honest, what's he done since he left?

Not a lot more (if any) than Hooper and RVW

Man City interested in Danny Ings apparently - they must want someone to keep the bench warm whilst wasting their talent now that Scott Sinclair has gone out on loan

If you hark back to #11, you'll see you asked if Ipswich signed anyone (in the most recent transfer window) Don't then be surprised if they (our semi-resident infestants) suddenly materialise to answer your question.

They're probably using a small percentage of 'Arry's pay off from Tony! I'm sure Tony tipped him a few bob to foxtrot oscar!

Not that I really wish to drag all this up again - it is old news after all - but Holt leaving had absolutely nothing to do with messrs Hughton and Caldwerwood. He wanted to leave the club whilst Lambert was still in charge. In fact, he was persuaded to STAY by Hughton, so one assumes Calderwood can't have been a big factor. It is certainly true that he didn't enjoy playing for them in his final season but it is quite sad to see history 're-written' to suit people's biases.

Agree with Munky and others about Hooper. Given a full pre season (something he hasn't yet had here) and a run of games without injury I think he's a 30 goal a season man at this level. He 'should' be our number 9. We needn't look elsewhere if he's happy here. We just need to start playing to his strengths. It would cost more than £5m to replace him with someone better imo.

30 goals a season with a full pre season ?
You have given up on promotion then Supers.
I like Hooper but this romantic idea that he has only scored 6 goals is because he didn't have a full pre season and Adams didn't play him properly is not completely fair , he has been back since October and I hoped he would have scored more .
He was scoring for fun at Celtic in a 4 4 2 but you admit you don't like that system so can he get 30 goals as a lone striker ?.
Surely playing him on his own is not playing to his strengths .

For me, Jerome is our natural number 9, with Hooper playing off him as the number 8. Jerome is tall, quick, holds the ball up well and has scored 13 goals in 23 matches (2 as sub). What more could you ask of a number 9?

yawn!!!! but Supers opinion must be right then he knows best, the fact that Calderwood really cheesed Holty off at Florist by playing him on the wing and then did the same here is obviously not worth considering then

Holty was the best player and leader we have had in years and will probably never be replaced in my lifetime and he was screwed up after Lambo left, bit like everything else

When did Holt play on the wing for us?!

I think Jerome is the perfect player for the "usual" #9 and Hooper could easily ply that role in behind him.

I've just heard that West Brom are loaning you Dorrans for the remainder of the season with a view to a permanent move in the Summer. Very good player presumably to replace Hoolahoop?
