I absolutely resent your last sentence Channonfodder. There is definately nothing deep down about me and everything you see is suitably superficial. I might grant you the rest of it however but only at weekends. I can also see why you wouldn't want an influx of young posters to get angry. It's best left to old farts like us to go over the top occasionally. These youngsters think they can take over everything don't they.
Absolutely! If I had my way, nobody younger than 58 would be allowed to post on here. Actually, deep, deep down, I am really rather shallow.........
That's only on the Pompey Board. The Saints posters are on average rather younger. And better looking.
"England" was never part of the Roman Empire. It didn't exist as a nation until well after the English arrived. Britannia, on the other hand........ Our Norman overlords decided that George, the Greek-born Roman soldier from Palestine, would be a good "role model" for Englishmen, to gee them up for the Crusades in that neck of the wood. St Edmund would be a true English patron saint...martyred by Ivar the Boneless and the Great Heathen Army (who finally got their comeuppance in Wessex )
I often wonder how many EDL idiots have looked up St George on wiki. George from Rainbow would make a better choice hoo hooo! please log in to view this image
Well, he's probably more English than St George Then again, St Andrew wasn't Scottish and St Paddy wasn't Irish. Only Dewi Sant can claim to be a native patron saint in these isles. I suspect that most people, including EDL followers, would know that St George was always a foreign, exemplar saint, representing muscular Christianity of the sort that the Lionheart appreciated. On the other hand, there are plenty of mockers saying George was a Turk. The Turks have been in Anatolia for about as long as the Normans have been in England. (In other words, about 800 years out of context)
Yea but do I really care is the most relevant question. Erm............No and if you have a Welsh mother in law breconsaint then you also have far more things to be worried about than that. Thanks for looking it up though I'm well impressed. Can't say I'm that into patriotism these days if I'm honest. I do like it if England ever win anything at sport but that's about it. That isn't often though but a tad more often than the other 3 that make up this Nation. I sometimes wonder what I've done to deserve things which must have been something terrible in a former life. I'm fated to be English and therefore sport deprived and I was born in Plymouth. Life's a bitch ain't it.
Speak for yourself! As for the info - it's hardly arcane knowledge and didn't need "looking up" for anyone with a smidgeon of historical interest. You're welcome, anyway! "Yea but do I really care is the most relevant question." No it isn't ! I wasn't even replying to you.
If you go to the Sunderland board and have a look at pages 5 and 6 of the "Poyet Bus" thread you will see maybe SB3 was a little hard done by
Wow !!! Sidthemackem - their moderator -did his best to control the threats and foul language on there. SB3 is an compared to them
There's been some almighty heated debates over the years. One poster in particular has been the catalyst for a lot of it. As a mod I shouldn't say who, but if you read enough it's not hard to work out who it is.
Well does seem a little hard on me!Why did I never get a 24 hour ban?I get life for saying 'fat German'!
Jesus this board is sad. Most commented threads are by a considerable distance about Southampton. I suppose this is what happens when your club goes from FA cup winners to a standard where in the next year or two you could well be seeing your mates play against Pompey in whatever pub league they will eventually find their level at
