Hector Bellerin has impressed me more in his last two matches than Coquelin to be honest. If he keeps progressing with such speed, Debuchy will find it very difficult to get back into starting XI. Honestly, no young Arsenal player has impressed me as much recently as odd HB. And that includes Wilshere and pre-injury Ramsey. Now, with Dani Alves leaving Barcelona in the summer, I will not be surprised if Barcelona will be interested in former Barca boy. I guess we will have an interesting dilemma thus summer. And if Debuchy will be reinstalled as our first choice RB, I will not be surprised if we will have HB leaving, Chambers moved to CB and Jenkinson returning as our backup RB. What's with Bellerin contract?
Barca can't sign anyone for the moment, so that's some good news, let's tie him down to a long term 60k 5 year contract.
Jenkinson is actually a very good RB himself, but there is a reason Wenger let him leave on loan, because Bellerin has world class potential, that pace he has allows to get away with positional mistakes that he will make because of his age. Also so far, he has actually not shown us just how good he is going forward which is understandable, but this kid is a proper player, and he won't give us the same frustrations Sagna gave us in terms of his crossing and forward play.
RB is one position we have well covered. An extremely competent and solid EPL pro in Debuchy and Bellerin and Jenkinson as very capable backups. Throw in a very useful remplacement in Chambers if needed and...you know, yeah baby! Personally I think Debuchy still has a few years at the top and I'd start him when fit. This gives you the luxury of bringing Hector through slowly without overloading him. I wouldn't want to see him get over-used like poor Callum was.
The RB position is well loaded and it would be good to see Jenks come back too. Debuchy offers us the experience and the other two should be used as future RBs. Chambers should be primarily considered as a CB and should focus on that. He as well as Paulista should be our future/alternative CBs.
We don't really need Jenko, bring him back for what? To sit his ass on the reserves because he won't even make the sub bench, and just take a 40-60 weekly wage? He will be sold come end season, we have 3 very good right backs already in Debuchy, Chambers, and Bellerin, and let's say Chambers becomes a CB, then we still have 2 top quality RB's, where the heck does Jenko fit in then? Sell him and make some decent money off him.
I agree. I like him but it wouldn't be fair. As things stand we have two very decent players ahead of him and he's having a great season. Seems the perfect time to sell him (with extensive add ons!).
Firstly, Bellerin has just started to play well, what happens if he gets injured, off form or sold to Barca (DNA rubbish and that)? How long has Debuchy got? He's at the wrong end of 20. It looks like Jenks is making very good progress with West Ham and what if he comes back really good? He may well end up being better than Debuchy.
Debuchy? 3-4 years at the very top at least. We've surely learned our lesson about ditching players too soon by now right? Secondly, yes Bellerin is only just coming good but then I'd argue the same for Jenks. As far as injuries are concerned...man. I know we're prone but you can't justify having 3 people for one role, 4 if you include Chambers (which I do). It wouldn't be fair on the people who don't play and chances are whoever goes on the bench will stagnate and, worse still, start to cause a bit os dissent at lack of game time. I really would like Jenks to succeed at the club, I just feel we have better options. We can always include a buy back clause
I know what you mean but I'm reluctant to lose a young and talented player that is Arsenal through and through. Can any of these guys play on the left as well?
Apparently bellerin can play on the left - though its not exactly the best solution. We could do what mourinho does and stockpile players and just let some rot...
What I am saying is - if Bellerin will keep progressing that fast, he will be too good for a backup RB and there will be too many suitors. Spanish press is already raving about him. If we can keep him then great, but if Debuchy will be again our no 1 RB and a we get a big offer for Bellerin, then what? At least Jenks is an Arsenal fan and I do not think West Ham will pay a lot for him. Bellerin already worth more. In fact, I think he is worth more than any Arsenal full back considering his age and potential. I can see Debuchy as our no1 RB and Jenks as no2. But Bellerin is simply too hot for no2 role in a club like Arsenal.
Then he will simply become our first choice. Wenger is not afraid to make Young players like Bellerin first choice players. Unless Bellerin has a mare, he will be first choice from now on
Fabregas had a long term contract,it didn't stop him ****ing off.Unfortunately in the modern game contracts mean **** all.
But at least we know Barca can't sign anyone while the transfer embargo is on, and if we sign Bellerin up to a long term contract, at least once the embargo is over and Barca try and sign him they'd have to pay top dollar for a youngster on a long-term contract.
We aren't the same Arsenal we were years ago during the rebuilding phase. We have financial muscle and the manager to boot to hold our own. Why should we cower to the likes of Barca, if they want any of our top players then we either say no or make it difficult for them. We are looking to keep our best players and be one of the best in the world. Time for our management to start acting tough!
Just for the record, Barca can still sign players if they want, FIFA can only "punish" them if they do. Which if they have to, will probably only be a slap on the wrist. Mark my wordsm, Barca will sign players this summer.
Bellerin started the season as our 4th choice RB, he's now playing week in week out. With Arsenal anything is possible, just because someone is a first team choice player (Debuchy) does not mean the 2nd choice player won't get a chance, with our injury luck you always know down the line a player will get the chance.
Also in fairness we may need to slow down a bit, let's wait and see how good Bellerin actually is, yes he has had a couple of good games but let's not start making fantastic judgements about him being our number 1 pick. Talk of putting Bellerin ahead of Debuchy as number 1 is very very premature.
