Managed to twist my back at footy tonight so now can't move properly. Also tweaked my right thigh. Oh well, already got my name down for Friday
I worked for Diageo, who own the Guinness brewery in Dublin, I worked there for a few months on a contract and got some Nigerian guinness from one of the sales folk, it's more % stronger than the stuff back home. They ****ing love that **** in Nigeria Wouldn't live there though, I don't own an AK47
Strange performance - we weren't great and its worrying that we're not creating many clear cut chances. Having said that, a wins a win. Sterling and Coutinho to lead the attack, Sakho and Can lead from the back, and special shout out to Migs who has been brilliant recently - goes to show that If you get a defence right, it can protect a keeper and leave him less exposed, ultimately resulting in more confidence. Highlight of the match for me was seeing Can playing more advanced - forgot how much potential he has to offer in midfield after his solid displays at the back.
Lennon's post match comments echoed exactly what I thought - great seeing a manager speak out honestly without trying to boost his own ego.
Agreed on Mig. Thought he was superb. Didn't have many shots to save but everyone knows he's been dodgy from crosses but he came and punched well and cleared his lined. Been very good since he was dropped and came back into the team. For the last 3 months we've actually had a solid defence in terms of stability and it's not rocket science that the teams that have the best defensive records are those that don't chop and change at the back consistently. It's annoying in a way that Can has played so well at the back as he's ready made to be playing CM for us but we don't have a good enough replacement for him at the back at the moment. Think he has to stay there for the moment with Lucas/Hendo in midfield but the summer could be the time that he moves up and we bring in a proper CB to partner Sakho.
Good call. Don't think he put a foot wrong tonight. (I guess he could have gone the right way for the pen, but that's nitpicking).
Oh and thought we were really pretty terrible tonight, struggling to break through a ten man knackered Bolton wall. Not the whole team but a good 70-80% of them. Thankfully Coutinho managed to find a wonder-shot from somewhere. Shame he only does it once a season eh??
As funny as it was, I'm not sure I liked Raheem claiming he saw the keepers legs were open so purposely megged him. He never took his eyes off the ball and he just made sure it went on target, fortunately it did but it was straight down the middle. He'd get more respect from me if he'd simply responded with "I just made sure I got a decent contact and it hit the target".
Bit of a lack lustre performance , but it's a win.Can played well as did Ford and Sakho who was solid again.Allen another candidate for the Johnson Fu** off taxi.
Thought rodgers tried his best to lose this game with his in game management - bringing Borini on and then moving him out to right wing back. Not only that, the team easily loses its shape as well.
A win is a win. And 2 great goals. This will give us great confidence but to be honest I wouldn't have been too upset if we were out of the FA cup. The matches are piling up and any injuries/suspensions will create problems. For me, the top priority must be the league whilst we still have a chance of CL , followed by Europa then the FA cup. For the weekend, will Gerrard play or is he now reserved for cups ? I hope it is the latter.
I listened to Rodgers on TS this morning and if I'd have not seen the game last night I could have been forgiven for thinking that there was some 'Wuuurrrld class' performances on show....bye that man can't half talk some blarney, he's great at self promotion I'll give him that - "when I arrived at Liberpul Suarez was a good player, but by wuuurrrking within my system and style, he became a Wurrrrrllld class talent" He then went on to suggest he was doing the same with Countinho..........OK mate As for the game itself, 2 cracking strikes to win it, but let's be right before he got sent off Danns was shackling Coutinho and you didn't look overly dangerous. Once down to 10 (despite Gudjohnsen missing a sitter to seal it) you turned the screw and they dropped way too deep, by the end they were shot and you finished them off. I can understand Lennon's frustration as I don't think you'd have won that game had Danns not made that lunge.
I listened to and agree with most of what you say and he does talk BS most of the time. But, you've somewhat exaggerated his comment there He said Saurez arrived a very good player but left a world class one. He never said anything about the system, style etc Gudjohnsen has developed a habit of missing sitters against Liverpool over the years
He ****ing did mate, I was sat in traffic laughing at it, that's exactly what he said (I'll give you the very though)
