I don't live in London anymore these days, but likewise try and get up to see the Arsenal when I can. It used to cost me 80p for a one day travel card, £2.50 to get in and £1.19 for a pint. These days it's £50 for a ticket and an £80 flight !

The picture on my sig is of the entrance to the old North Bank. I've lost count of the times I've walked through those gates and up those steps, obvs that picture was taken a long time before my days on the North Bank, but it captures the magic of that place.

Some old memories of Blackheath, My brother and me used to go to the boating lake and watch the fancy model boats (remember those?) I remember my brother running around the edge of the lake to go and get a better view of some model battlecruiser or something and slipping on some algae and going arse over tit into the lake <laugh>

Who even cares about the League Cup final ? This thread is toast.

Much more interesting to talk about the good old days of cheap tickets and terraces. Blackheath Redcoat, do you remember the old donkey rides outside of Greenwich park entrance on the Heath ?

I probably am compared to you, but for a real ancient relic you have to look at Cym. When he started going to watch the Arsenal, people still wore loincloths and hunted Woolly Mammoth for meat and hide. This was of course many moons after Spurs' last league title . .

And, yet, you were interested enough in what I wrote to make that comment!

To be fair, the league is our target this season, we have bigger fish to fry

  13. Probably, so, EC, but don't try and tell me that you won't be excited, come the big day.

Only one winner in this game, Spurs may as well stay home and concentrate on failing to get 4th.

I think the aim should be both, all this priority nonsense in footy nowadays. The league could slip away regardless and then you get nothing. Treat each game as just important as the next whether it's cup or league and that's how you end up with doubles and trebles, even quadruples.

As a fan would I give up a League Cup win just to finish 4th? Difficult to answer as why should I be influenced by club finances and CL money and give up the glory of a cup for it? Selfish maybe as my club needs that money and my team and club also miss out on a season in the CL. However as football fans isn't winning trophies what we watch football for? Isn't that every fans dream to see their team lift a cup, to go through the drama, the up's and downs of a cup run?
I'll be very happy if we finish 4th this season but I wont jump around like a nutter and pop some Champagne.
The money in footy is ruining the game when 4th becomes a priority over a cup.

I was more excited about our premiership game at the Lane.
Or any other premiership game and three points is more important.
The fact that we are playing Spurs makes it more exciting for sure, but I would swap the carling cup for those three points on New Years day all day long.
Being time poor in feb and March, I've decided not to go to Wembley and go to the everton, Burmley and PSG games instead.
Wembley is our second home, only the fact we are playing Spurs makes it exciting

  18. Really...? When you onyl have to play one game to lift a trophy you'd still prioritise the league? <laugh>

  19. Got to say, I don't want to see either team win the League Cup <laugh>

If pushed, I'd prefer Spurs though. Teams usually collapse after winning that trophy :)

This season, the league is our main target. If we lift a domestic cup and have a decent run in the Champions league: bonus.

Our squad is not as deep as city's and we could have done without the extra games v liverpool etc imo.

Now we are there, let's beat the Spids, of course
