Utter **** being spouted here about Walcott from the Spuds, but to be expected I suppose. Let's put this bollocks into perspective, Walcott has better stats than Gareth Bale when he played for the spuds in his last season. Walcott scored more goals in less games, had a better conversion rate of shots to goals, provided more assists and had better passing stats than the Welshman. But of course I suppose you spuds will now argue that Lennon is better than Bale ?

As for HIAG, the only thing you're owning here mate is an unrivalled ability to repeatedly make a Tit out of yourself, keep em coming <ok>

Bale scored 26 goals in his last season at Spurs. Walcott scored 21.
Perhaps you mean league games? Nope, that would be 21 to 14.
International goals? No, again. 4 to 1.

Where did you get your stats from?

In less games is the key phrase. Like for like Walcott played less games and scored more per game. Had he played as many games as Bale it's likely he would have out scored him too. But it's not just scoring, his stats are better for assists, pass rate and shot efficiency.

Don't get me wrong I think Bale is a wonderful player, I'm just using this comparison to show what rubbish it is to claim that Lennon is better than Walcott, when walcott is more akin to Bale.

No, you said he scored more goals in less games, not more goals per game.
Even taking that alternative stat, you'd still be wrong.
Walcott scored 5 less goals and played one less game. He also played one less league game and scored 7 less.

As for his other stats, like pass accuracy, he made half as many passes.
Stats mean **** all, most of the time. They have to have context and even then they're a vague guideline.

So you've just contradicted your point by saying that stats mean **** all <laugh> good argument.

Point being though that Walcott is more on a par with Bale who was your best player by a country mile. To claim that Lennon is better than Walcott is quite frankly, laughable.

How have I contradicted my point?
You made a claim about the stats and I pointed out that it was wrong.
You then claimed that you meant something else and I pointed out that you were still wrong.

You were claiming that the stats meant something, not me.
Charlie Austin's scored more league goals than any Arsenal, Spurs or Man Utd player this season.
Is he a better striker than any of those on the books of those clubs?

Naismith's clearly better than Sterling. I'm sure Real Madrid will be fighting it out with Chelsea to sign him this summer.

Not really. Whilst stats can be manipulated, the fact remains that Walcott scored more goals per game than Bale.

What you are saying is that Walcotts "goals per games played" ratio is better than Bales

Exactly. Try explaining that to the spud. He's trying to be facetious, but the stats put Walcott on a par and in some areas ahead of Bale.

Salient point again being that Walcott's contribution to the team in terms of goals scored, assists, pass completion etc is as good as Bale's was to Spurs. But unlike Bale, Walcott is not the 'one man' of the team.

And again, to even compare Walcott to Lennon is fairly incredulous. To claim that Lennon is better than Walcott is completely deluded.

Real Madrid coughed up over €100mil for Gareth Bale. As far as I know, they've neve even made any enquiry about Walcott.

    Enough said!

It's at WHL, so yes, I think it'll be close. both sides seem to have hit a vein of form at the moment and it could come down to one or two pieces of individual flair. I think you'd get pretty long odds on it finishing 0-0.

It's so hard to predict the NLD as form usually goes out of the window. I think Spurs will attack and that might suit Arsenal as we've been much better defensively recently and like in the city game, we allowed the opposition to have possession and hit them on the break.

All five of our goals against villa came on the break and we really seem to have found a good groove playing his way. Of course out win at WHL last season wasn't dissimilar. After Rosicky scored that early thunderbolt we just allowed Spurs to have the ball and soaked up the pressure.

Anyway, here's looking forward to Saturday. I certainly wouldn't put much money on the outcome. I just hope we don't produce another one of our "after the Lord mayors' show" performances.

It should be cracking game. Both teams have hit good form and have got some great attacking options. Rivalry aside (momentarily) I've been really impressed with Kane and Erikson and they both look like they can turn a game in an instant.

That said we have the likes of sanchez, cazorla, ozil, Walcott, Rosicky and oxo who can also create chances from nothing. I've been reassured by our defending recently too, we seem to have finally grasped the concept of not going gung ho in the big games.

I reckon we'll see some goals. If I had to make a prediction I'd go for a 1-1 or 2-2.

  20. Bale's last season at Spurs was in 2012-13.

    Bale:
    - Overall, he got 26 goals in 44 games (0.59 goals per game)
    - League games only, he got 21 goals in 33 games (0.64)

    Walcott:
    - Overall, he got 21 goals in 43 games (0.49 goals per game)
    - League games only, he got 14 goals in 32 games (0.44)

So not only is Bale's stats better overall, what @PleaseNotPoll is saying is they are better when broken down to per game too. TBF, it's not even close <laugh>

If you focus on their entire careers at the two London clubs:

Bale = 0.29 goals per game
    Walcott = 0.23

Sorry PISKIE, but I genuinely have no idea how you're claiming Theo's stats to be better than Garteh's :)
