Club name 25-man Premier League squad ... QPR have named their 25-man squad for the second half of the 2014/15 Barclays Premier League season. There are two changes to the squad named for the opening part of the campaign. Mauro Zarate is included whilst midfielder Michael Doughty is also named. Players born on or after January 1st 1993 are classed as under-21 players and are therefore eligible to feature throughout the season despite not being named in the official 25-man squad. The 25-man squad Goalkeepers: Green, McCarthy, Murphy Defenders: Onuoha, Dunne, Ferdinand, Hill, Yun, Caulker, Isla, Traore, Ehmer Midfielders: Barton, Sandro, Henry, Fer, Kranjcar, Wright-Phillips, Hoilett, Phillips, Doughty Strikers: Austin, Vargas, Zamora, Taarabt, Zarate Read more at http://www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/q...-loftus-road-2247941.aspx#VbBuQ4B6wO8rpVWO.99 ========================= For me, this makes awful reading. Firstly, our forwards actually look a decent bunch. But our defence contains only one true full back and a lot of old, slow players. The rest haven't proven themselves at top level. The midfield contains Doughty and SWP. Need I say more? To be fair, we have some other decent players in the middle and you can also include Taarabt there. We did not do good enough recruiting in the Summer and didn't got only one player in during this window, who wasn't a bad signing. With that said, I still think that if we had a manager who can get the absolute best out of these guys, we could get a fair few points between here and the end of season.
If we do what we mistakenly moved away from in August 2011 and revert to our championship winning formula injuries permitting we've got a good enough team to survive. Sandro and Barton or Henry in the Faurlin Derry role Vargas and Traore or Fer in Routledge and Mackie roles. Austin as Heidar and Adel running the show. Easy peasy!
Nothing wrong with that squad...should be ample to survive, just need a plan on how to play, leadership from whoever is in charge and a bit of luck.....
Thanks QPR Beth - I would like to see the likes of him given a go. I think we all agree that one of the major issues with our team/squad is the lack of pace...He can't do any worse than what we have seen from the likes of Hoilett/Phillips/SWP etc so far this season.
Given when his return was announced I don't think he was sent back in time. It had to be done before the transfer deadline for you to be able to play him, but you only announced it the next afternoon. If that is the case, even more annoyingly you can't send him out on an emergency loan either (his registration would still be held by El Ittihad until the summer window opens). You would be free to sell him to an MLS club or someone like that who are still in an open transfer window.
Nowt wrong with that lot IMO Our fans have become fickle ... remember your roots There is enough there
The list of defenders looks weak, and the table shows it is the weakest in the League. There'a a lot of work to do there.
There really should be enough quality there to see big improvements, although the lack of pace at the back, particularly at centre back does worry me.
