We'll make a profit on him no doubt, but not much, maybe leave for around £6m/£7m? He is a talent yes, but not at left back, he either needs to bulk up and gain some knowledge on defending or change to being a winger, then we would be able to sell him for the £15m that everyone seems to think he is worth.

If every player has relegation clauses then we don't have to worry about our wage bill..

Of course we do, the relegation clauses won't wipe more than a third off the wage bill, but relegation would wipe well over 50% off our income. With a third wiped off the wage bill, it would still exceed our total income, there's no way we wouldn't get rid of our biggest earners if we went down.

Correct. A point that has been lost on many here.

Talk of relegation is for the hissy fitters - neg heads and wums.

With the parachute payments (IF the worst happens) this lot should be given the chance to get us back at the first attempt. Then sell if we dont make it back.

The big PL money starts from 2016/17 season. £100-150m per PL club before anything else. So say the wongamen.

Obviously not, as I was responding to someone who claimed the opposite.

Right who in our current squad would be the first out the door and how much they would be worth.

    Gone straight away - Chest 3-4mill, Elmo1-2mil, Davies 1-2mill.

Bar those theres the solid players promoted teams might gamble one.

    Huddlestone 2-3mill, Livermore 2-3mill, Dawson, 1-2mill, Jelavic 2-3mill.

Bar that I cannot see much trade for anyone else, maybe Robertson but we will only get what we paid for him, we''d be better keeping him.

May i suggest you do the same. Your self pontificating and knowing what will happen (NOT) with all things - as many conversations in the premier club prove.

Maybe if OLM ended every statement with TWT/ Time Will Tell, it might solve your problem.....?

    Some figures to consider:

    Current wage bill £56 million
Transfer fees outstanding £21 million (my guess)
    Debt to Allamhouse £60 million

Parachute payments next year £23 million
Income from our last season in the championship £11 million
Losses allowed under Championship FFP rules £3 million (may change). The £3 million increases to £8 million if the owner puts equity of £5 million in.

I don't know how many players other than Macca will be out of contract but this gives us a rough idea what relegation could mean, even with relegation clauses in players' contracts.

Apologies, but there's a misunderstanding here. I didn't mean that we wouldn't be selling any players, I just mean that we wouldn't be selling players off cheap.

I don't know where you're getting the information that you get bargains out of a relegated team. Take last season

    Cardiff
    Medel £10m to Inter
    Caulker £8m to QPR
    Mutch £6m to QPR
    Campbell £900k to Palace

Fulham didn't really have anyone to sell

    Norwich
    Fer £8m to QPR
    Snodgrass £7m to us

    Hardly any bargains

RE Jelavic, he may be 30 but his game doesn't rely on pace so you could imagine him playing at this level till he's 33 or so. That'll mean any future club would get 3 years out of him and guarantee themselves 20-30 goals. Granted they wouldn't get a return on their investment but we definitely won't be making a big loss on him. He's a good goalscorer in a struggling team, in a better team it's pretty certain he'd score more.

Cardiff City made a loss on the sale of Medel and Caulker. A small profit on Campbell and a £5 million profit on Mutch, who'd been with them since 2012, bought from cash strapped Birmingham City. Without the sale of Mutch they'd have made a loss on their transfer dealings.

I probably shouldn't of used the word "bargains", however Cardiff bought Caulker for £10m, add a years wages of £2m as he was on around £40k per week, they sold him losing £4m. £6m for Mutch was an absolute bargain though, he scored 7 and set up 6 himself for a struggling Cardiff team. Medel was signed for £11m, losing money again when selling him. Campbell was a bargain at 900k, he scored 9 goals in all competitions, for less than a million that was an absolute steal.

Leroy Fer was definitely not a bargain, he only scored a couple of goals and a few assists. However the rest were either sold at a loss when going down or were absolute bargains.

We wouldn't make a huge loss on Jelavic no, however we would be lucky to get what we paid for him.
