I love Deadline Day. The Sky programme is the funniest thing on TV. It reminds me of the shopping channels where people talk drivel about a single item for hours on end. Except this is even better because they mostly talk about things that aren't happening. I went away for about 2 hours and when I returned the same total spend figure was showing and the same breaking news or 'Sky Sources' was showing underneath. The absolute highlight was a guy from West Brom who obviously thought he was announcing WWIII. In fact it was problems with Carlton Cole transfer!!! What with that and the Adebayor on/off saga, Jim White could hardly contain himself. It was all too much, I went to bed but was obviously too excited to sleep!
Do you know the best thing about deadline day...they didn't keep showing the weekend matches. It was like we had never lost
Yahoo sport graded every PL club's transfer window. We get an A. SOUTHAMPTON PLAYERS IN: Eljero Elia (Werder Bremen, loan); Filip Djuricic (Benfica, loan); Ryan Bertrand (Chelsea, £10m) PLAYERS OUT: Artur Boruc (Bournemouth, loan extension); Jos Hooiveld (Millwall, loan); Jack Cork (Swansea City, undisclosed) Elia already looks a tasty purchase. It’s strange that Southampton managed to sign him, given he was once linked with Europe’s top clubs and has featured in a World Cup final. Djuricic barely played during a loan spell at Mainz, but given the impact of Southampton’s summer recruits, how can we possibly doubt Ronald Koeman’s judgement? Looks like another good window for the south coast club, especially after securing Bertrand on a permanent basis. ESTIMATED NET SPEND: £8m GRADE: A
http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2015...-explains-why-southampton-did-not-sign-tonny/ As believed, Sporting Director at Feyenoord says we were interested in Vilhena but our offer was too low.
Don't know how much replacing they'd need to do in fairness, he hasn't been a fixture for them. Also, it being the Dutch league, I think "suitable replacement" generally translates to "the next flaxen-haired 16 year old in line".
Yes, not sure why I read that it had. Oh, actually it was on the news here in NZ as a little aside between sports reporters, one a spurs fan. Obviously they thought it had happened. I should know better, if it aint on the forum, it didnt happen.
