yeah compared to how we managed our club, we were almost liquidated.
they modelled their club on WBA, being a yoyo club is far from disgraceful.

If the speculation is correct then Ings will be at L;iverpool next season.

Yes, keeping Ings for a few more months before losing him for nothing was brilliant...

Due to his age they'll get compensation. Based on what we paid for Ince it'll not be much less than the £4M they were being offered.

It's known as a Viscount club since the rebrand.

Remind you of any other teams at the moment...

Right now I'd say Leicester, QPR and us.

Although whatever happens, some real dross will stay up this season.

Think you are pretty much on the money here.
If you take all the teams in the bottom half of the premier league this season it is really poor. We only need to improve a little to have enough to survive.

Mate of mine is a Utd fan, he said that, whilst he wishes him well, Fletcher should really have retired.

Thinks the alleged value of the contract given by WBA is utter madness.

Which is why I never wanted him, and was surprised that others appeared to. Fletcher is a busted flush, and will go on to confirm it with WBA.

For anybody who was serious about Calaum Jahraldo-Martin being given a chance in the first team squad, he didn't even make it off the bench tonight as they drew 0-0 with Livingston. **** me, even I've played in the Scottish Leagues, it's ****ing ****.

Is there no such thing as a pre-contract agreement between the 2 clubs in these situations ? i.e. Buying & selling teams agree to a fee to be paid at the end of the season, and the player remains at the selling club until the end of the season ? In that contract there would be a heavy penalty if either club or the player renege on the deal. No ?

I have NEVER said that we need a '20 goal a season' striker as some posters have attributed to me. Should we obtain one by accident the big clubs would be in like a flash and he would be gone. Bottom half of the Premier League Clubs will rarely have strikers scoring 1 in 3 and I agree with your assessment that a 1 in 4 striker would be a great accession.

Altidore has scored 2 goals in 70 appearances in the Premier League.
Folan scored 2 from 15 appearances in the Premier League.
Proschwitz got 3 from 29 for us in the Championship. Simpson 12 from 78 whilst McLean managed 9 from 77.
Now, you might be of the opinion that this is acceptable for a 'striker' but I don't.
Excuses like they were 'hold-up/target men' are ridiculous. Altidore has been played as a 'striker' for the USA National Team and as a 'striker' for AZ in the Eredivisie. He was played as a 'striker' for the Sunderland team and has failed miserably at Premier League level as he is not of this standard.

I wouldn't, in the wildest stretch of imagination, believe that there are 'countless' examples of 'strikers' who 'offer other things' - they are NOT strikers but 'hold-up men' (Heskey was a shining example) and/or 'target men' (Niall Quinn for Kevin Richards at Sunderland was superb in that position).
We need, as you say, a 1 in 4 striker which is not a big ask so N'Doye has a huge weight on his shoulders.
I do hope he is the bloke we are looking for.

Yes they can, Man U did it with Smalling (admittedly not for a soon to be out of contract player). The only issue is that when Burnley play Liverpool it brings up the question of does he play and how hard would he try. (It require PL approval, and they're under the naive impression that if it's not on paper the agreement hasn't been reached lol). When Man U did it with Smalling the issue was removed by the fixture list.

Age wouldn't affect it. But other than with the Burnley's permission he can only talk to non-English league setup clubs until after Burnley's last game.

Someone a page or so back said Hernandez is better than Long.

    Whoever that was, you're mental.

    I agree with them.

Long is very suited to the Premier League and offered more to us last season than Hernandez has this season. But in terms of 'better', which I take to mean a more talented footballer, I think that's Hernandez.

He's shown in glimpses of how good he can be. He also has 3 goals in 14 games whilst Long has 2 in 19, I don't think we've seen what Hernandez is capable of yet but his performances against West Ham and Everton were better than anything we ever saw from Long and give me confidence he should come good.
