You should probably put debt in quote marks. Debt is something that hangs over you and has to be repaid eventually. Student finance doesn't work that way, in a huge amount of cases it just gets written off by the government having never affected the student/former student's life in any way.

Age has nothing to do with how good a fan you are, you start going when your interest in the sport piques; when will people learn that it's not when you started that's important, it's that you started in the first place. Moving on to your completley inaccurate bollocks about students, again, this isn't the 90's and not everybody who graduates ends up with a job. It's a harsh reality, it's one that happened to me (even with an MA), hence why I'm retraining to be a teacher. You go to university because you've proven that you are academically capable of achieving at a higher level, it's a sign of intelligence. At my school, the kids that left at sixteen were the ones who measured you on how 'hard' you were and presumably (assuming they haven't died off) still live by those poor standards today, most are now married and have at least one child. At 24. Most of them left simply because they weren't smart enough to do anything else, the minimum entry to my Sixth form was 5 GCSE C's and if they couldn't manage that, they'd have to go out and get a low paying, menial job. Then the kids that left after A-Levels were the ones who wanted to do something a bit more, probably office based stuff or a higher end labour job, maybe furthering study at a later date, even travelling in some cases. The rest went to uni and they're the ones who are the doctors, lawyers, teachers, businessmen (and women). Obviously there are exceptions to the rule, but for the most part, university is so beneficial. My uni years were the best of my life, it was amazing living in another city, taking in a different culture and learning more about the country we live in. You strike me as the kind of person who moans about 'bloody students', but when you're ill, try finding a doctor who wasn't once a student. Or trying to convince your wife to send your kid to a school where none of the teachers have a university education. Think you'll struggle a bit. In fact, most people without a uni degree are going to struggle finding jobs in the near future, there are so many people with them that if you don't have one, you're going to be a bit ****ed unless you have a specific trade skill set. Oh, and I haven't paid much of my student loan off, at such a low interest rate there's literally no point, they only take a fiver or so off me a month anyway.
Regardless of the "interest rate" I wouldn't pay any extra anyway. Unless you think that just by paying the minimum you're going to clear it before the time is up you'd be as well just burning money as paying extra.

Firstly, Sterling old chap, Billy Whitehurst couldn't have cut your cord on Bunkers Hill as he was a mere child when they replaced it with a cantilever stand in the 60's. For someone with a Uni Degree you should know how to spell 'completely' and 'traveling'! (Sorry mate - don't mean to be pedantic). I would be one of the few who have supported Hull City from after WW2. The game has changed too much for us 'oldies' to comprehend 'possession football' and 'hold-up' players - we find it boring but, to be fair, in our time we had 5 forwards (all capable of scoring goals) and the game flowed from end to end without this continual passing, passing, passing from defender to midfielder with little or no progress being made. However, we accept that this is the style of the game now. It can only be overcome by players who have the ability to take on their marker, beat them and head for goal or cross the ball if they are wingers but players of this capability are few and far between these days (and cost a Kings Ransom). You should pay more off your 'student loan' there are immigrants to feed you know.

Because Brits usually choose to migrate to Countries which are still part of the Commonwealth - like Australia for instance. When I came we had to pass a 'trade test' and pay 10 quid. Immigrants to the UK appear to just arrive and just say "Where's the nearest welfare office, school and hospital and where's my house"?
