I really don't care any more And my 34 years love for the club has finally came to an end.

What is the point somebody please tell me ? I have not stepped foot in st James since Keegan left but I still loved and backed the club and when we lost it still ruined my bloody weekends but now i have no feelings left

I am glad ineptdue has finally ****ed off but I hate his clone carver just as much.

Things will never change as most of the mugs continue to back Ashley every week by turning up and putting money in his pocket but that's your watch out.

But for me if we went down it would prove Ashley wrong and will hit him were it hurts the most his back pocket, I wish all the clubs who are doing there dammed best to stay up by getting in players to help out.

But for us to bring in nobody on the back of a shocking summer where we failed to replace demba ba STILL and fail to fix the lack of bodies at the back by making it even worse now santon has been given away.

Going down might seem like bad news but staying up is a pointless excerise when all the club are bothered about is their bank balance.

Virtually no chance of going down, even carved can grind out the seven more points that we will need.

True. Staying up is absolutely pointless. Everything that people brag about from the Ashley tenure is pretty much how much it has benefited HIM. We're super profitable... What the **** do we care? Unless it's reinvested, it means nothing.

I would follow the club in non-league football, if we played at St James' or in a park populated entirely by dog turds, and I for one would support seeing us go down if it got rid of this utter parasite. We're not building for anything and we're no aiming to achieve anything but stay in the league. There's normal mid-table obscurity, and then there's moneyballing your way to mid-table.

If your a statistician, great, but a football fan won't appreciate this ****.

Relegation would make us much less attractive, push the selling price down, and virtually guarantee that MA didn't sell us. If you want MA gone then relegation should be the last thing you want!

What you are saying makes logic sense however he is not going to sell up so we might as well not stress about that:

Funny if we were to go down now?

Hmmmmm I can think of funnier things - and some of them aren't funny at all.

Don't care anymore, I used to get annoyed when we lost, happy when we won, but for quite a while I just started to feel less elation/annoyance. Its all a bit pointless, why bother putting any emotion into it.

    Keep the faith.

Summer will be big for us. I fully expect a proper coach to be brought in and investment in the squad. Although not appeasing to us fans I can kind of understand why we haven't brought anyone in due to the extortionate prices in Jan and better options in the summer. We still have a squad more than capable of a mid table finis and there are a several teams a lot worse than us.

Call me deluded and anything else you like but I support the team on the pitch and always will.

Apparently Carver has been making noises that he has been told that the long term position of head coach is his to lose. He is even quoted pointing out that he is the main man now - something along the lines of 'look at my job title - it says head coach, not interim head coach'.

I honestly hope that the required points we need to survive are achieved at home,

then we can celebrate as if we have won the league <party>but in fact it's survival and that is our only aim :emoticon-0101-sadsm
then we don't bother turning up for the remainder of games, because what's the point :emoticon-0181-fubar

I agree with the turning up and supporting the team on the pitch. Peaks and troughs are just part and parcel of a supporters life. We've had plenty of the latter.

However I struggle to see any evidence that we will appoint a top coach and support with a budget to progress. I think you have to work in reality and base it on what history tells you will happen. The most likely scenario is if Carver retains our position in the PL, he'll retain his role as it stands. That will be the most cost effective solution to achieving our survival goal year on year. I think it is guaranteed if he achieves mid table personally. If he was to struggle, I think you'd be basically looking at the out of work list. That is all we've seen under Ashley, there is no reason to suspect a sudden shift in ambition.

Completely Agree, If Carver gets 3/4 more wins and 2 or more draws from the resulting games, you will see him announced as Manager.

I actually preferred the structure prior to this one. I know Pardew was spineless and egotistical, but he had no emotinal attachment, Carver is worse, calls himself a Geordie and works under these circumstances, he has his own self interests at heart, if he had any self respect he would have walked out. He is happy for players to be sold beneath him, no one brought in as long as he gets his "head coach" role, he really needs to look at the bigger picture

To be fair I'm looking at it with a glass half full. No one knows what the plans are it's all hearsay and rumours that everyone gets worked up over. Only people who know are at the top of the hierarchy at nufc.

We haven't got a bad record when it comes to summer signings 3+ nearly each year. that's why I expect some signings.

As for carver, im not a fan and at this moment in time he hasn't got the job but imagine if he wins more than he looses or draws and we somehow finish in the top 8, he should be given the chance surely?

This is trap we have fallen into before in my opinion - many other clubs too. Short term periods to judge a manager and then giving them the job but finding they are a bad fit. I actually think Carver is very good fit for this board, but not for the fans. I'm not as bothered about where we finish, I just want entertainment. I think decent results will be a by product anyway.

I agree we don't know what will happen, but if you were betting, I think the sensible money is on stagnation. We do have a decent record of buying in the summer, but only when we have off loaded in the winter to fund it. It may be we offload Sissoko early and buy. If we sell Sissoko, I think we might sign a couple as we'll need them to survive given Sissoko's contribution.

It would be lovely to think Frank De Boer or such like will come in, we'll use our financial position to get ourselves into a really strong position for progress. I just can't see it under Ashley. He has quite a nice scenario at present, regardless whether he has a happy paying public. He has profit and a paying public is all that matters on the balance sheet.

I take a longer view. Hopefully he will leave at some time in my lifetime and someone will bring back the excitement and drive. Maybe they won't. In the meantime I'll just do as I always have and support the team come match day.

Like people have said already, it is Carver's job to lose now. If he gets another 12 points or so he will get the job in the summer. There is no ****ing doubt of that in my mind and any other Newcastle fan unless they are completely and utterly retarded.

I don't care if we have Ronald McDonald as our head coach... I would never find it slightly amusing if we went down.

Not true! Not even a little bit, it's a backwards logic cliche now.

In the ideal world, where rich people exist to use football clubs as toys and lavish money upon them, yes, staying up is more likely to get rid of Ashley, as some sultan sees a premier league club up for sale. However, we don't live in that climate anymore.
Mike has already made his wedge from us, and continues doing so through Sportsdirect association with the club, therefore bumping us down a division or two seriously ****s him off, and makes our club more affordable. Why do you think he's so hellbent on getting Rangers promoted? He only cares so long as something isn't driving his business. The ONLY way guaranteed to either get rid of him, or make him put some effort in, is by getting relegated <ok>

Obviously, Mike COULD stick with us til destruction, but he wouldn't. And Newcastle will long outlast him.

I can sort of understand the reasoning behind being relegated in the hope it gets rid of Ashley, but I cant see him just walking away, if it happened.
Irrelevant anyway, as we wont go down.

Word of warning though, if it is what you want, promotion might not be as straightforward as the last one.
Previous relegations throughout the history of the Club, have taken years before promotion was gained.
I lived through the relegations of the 70's and 80's and it wasn't easy getting back.
Be careful what you wish for.

It doesn't matter though. IT DOESN'T MATTER. Have a look on the thread about what people EXPECT from the club. Answer, players FIGHTING for the jersey. Nobody said premier league was expected. I couldn't give two ****s about getting humped by Man City et al every week <ok>
