Sofa 1 Exercise 0: is that the great Olympic legacy Blair promised? please log in to view this image David Conn 'Our Olympic Legacy'? - Not really........ http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/feb/02/exercise-olympic-legacy-blair-sport
That doesn't really tell the whole story. It was a brilliant advert for Britain and has led to the complete regeneration of East London. You can argue that London didn't really need that investment to regenerate it, but it's certainly left an enormous legacy for people that live there.
To an extent, but the housing developers aren't providing affordable housing http://chobhammanor.co.uk/?gclid=CIOdv_GVxsMCFfHKtAodGSQAOg True, Chazzman - the stadium, the housing developments, the transport links, etc The Great Olympic Legacy? What a con.......
Pigs in a trough Stan just like Wembley. How could it take that long?? The Olympic stadium was a poorly thought out. I dont blame West Ham they were the only game in town.
England is far too London-centric and it's at the expense of the rest of the country as foreign companies don't wish to re-locate anywhere else. This has a knock-on effect in terms in terms of talent, jobs, prices, transport.
Affordable housing does not mean what you think it means please log in to view this image http://www.theguardian.com/housing-...ffordable-housing-meaning-rent-social-housing
The obsession with London from certain people oop North is actually embarrassing, not to mention a load of bollocks.
If you want genuine 'affordable' housing, then you don't want to be looking at luxury new builds in London.
New developments can be built without social housing Housing developments no longer need to include a proportion of council houses, Prime Minister David Cameron and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ear...ents-can-be-built-without-social-housing.html
That's completely irrelevant with regard to the Olympic village, as they were forced to include 28% of social housing across the entire site. And the social housing restriction needed binning, it was a stupid idea, it simply didn't work and prevented developments from going ahead. I bought a London apartment on a development that had been forced to include 20% social housing and I'd never do it again.
Absolutely. When I decided to flog it, the estate agent came round and said 'obviously we'll have to try and find a buyer from out of town, nobody who knows the area will buy it'.
This was the main point of the thread, OLM, rather than money and development... The finding by Sport England that fewer adults in England are doing even half an hour’s moderate sporting exercise a week, with a particular drop among the poor, has dealt another blow to the grand claims made for the 2012 London Olympics.
