Well done to Steve Bruce who got his man in the end. The burden of taking on all team/ coaching duties (without an assistant) while struggling to bring in players would be a challenge for any manager.

It was a compliment, you touchy Rusky !

You have a very good grasp of the use of the apostrophe for a Russian speaker by the way.....

It's just a shame that we didn't also sign Brazilian striker Pa(n)to. Will have to settle for a 1-2 with Costel Pantilimon after a dodgy backpass.

you are joking right? no supply?
    our strikers are none existant!
our midfielders get the ball up there and these so-called strikers **** it up!
that has been our main problem for a while.

congratulations Mr Bruce on getting our main target!

Dame N’Doye: Ten things you may not know

please log in to view this image

Hull City beat the February 2nd deadline to pick up Lokomotiv Moscow striker Dame N’Doye in the “January” transfer window. Here are ten things you may not know about Steve Bruce’s latest acquisition.

N’Doye will become the fourth Senegal international to pull on the black and amber. He follows the warrior Abdoulaye Faye, Ibrahima “I’m not as good as Neil Whitworth” Sonko and recent acquisition Mohamed Diame.

England becomes the 7th country N’Doye has played in after spells in his homeland, Qatar, Portugal, Greece, Denmark and Russia.

Like Hull City, N’Doye played in the Europa League this season. His campaign was shorter than ours as Lokomotiv entered in the play-off round and were humbled by Apollon Limassol losing 4-1 at home after a 1-1 draw in Cyprus.

Football stats website http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ suggest N’Doye’s market value is in the region of £9m. That’s three times more than the suggested value of the “undisclosed” fee the Tigers have paid for him.

N’Doye earned a move to Lokomotiv with his sensational goal scoring record for Copenhagen. He bagged 82 goals in 150 appearances for the Danes with 66 coming in domestic games. He also hit 16 goals in 34 games in Europe including 7 in Champions League qualifying and 2 in the competition proper.

In 2010/11, N’Doye was part of the Copenhagen side that became the first Danish team to reach the Champions League “Round of 16”. They finished behind Barcelona in the group stage (drawing 1-1 with them at home) and qualified in part thanks to N’Doye scoring the winner at home to Rubin Kazan and finding the net in a 2-0 win away to his previous club, Panathinaikos. Copenhagen were eliminated after losing 2-0 on aggregate to Chelsea.

N’Doye continued his impressive goal average with 27 in 66 Russian League games.

According to that font of all knowledge, FIFA ’15, N’Doye’s greatest attributes are his strength and stamina, aggression, heading ability and powerful shooting. He’s also known as someone who takes on long distance strikes. He’ll never fit in with our lot!

That aggression may account for the fact that N’Doye picks up a booking every six games on average. While he’s no Joey Barton, that would guarantee him one suspension a year in the Premier League.

N’Doye was made a Dame in 1988 by Queen Elizabeth II for her services to performing arts. Oh, hang on, that’s Judy Dench.

I was just going to ask what sort of player he is.

Is he as quick as Hernandez <doh>. A target man? Runs the channels like Long?
And will he stick the ball in the net? All our hopes are pinned on this bloke now.

Does anyone remember him from the Chelsea games? That would appear our best barometer.

I've just checked transfermkt and he has no secondary position. <laugh>

Actually, on the 'comparable players' section on there, it says Demba Ba.

    That'll do.

I've just noticed no one actually bought Gestede in the end. We shoulda gone for him as well and offered Ince or Macca as part of the deal.

It looked like a deal was done, the bookies suspended betting on him going to Palace, but it seems something went wrong.

Look, if you want to keep it going then it's fine but I'll somehow get the blame for it. Do you honestly think the person on that website watched many games of his at Palermo calmly evaluating the players role or is he just a number jockey ticking database boxes? How many games does it say Wayne Rooney has played wide midfield? He put in a ****ing transfer request cos he was sick playing out wide but he's still down as a support striker.
