I've actually just done some research and I can't find a single reference to a game where Hernandez was played out wide. I even looked through all his games on transfermarkt (not exactly concrete evidence I know) but they have him playing as a CF every time as well.
None, but there's literally no reference anywhere to him ever playing on the wing. There's a few 'player profiles' written by journos or what have you who claim he could do a job on the wing, but nothing to say he's ever actually played there.
If you check his international record, almost every appearance We signed him this season, so I think it's safe to assume we scouted him last season and there's absolutely no doubt that we signed him as a striker, not as a winger.
Literally the first thing I looked at referenced him playing on both wings: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/abel-hernandez/profil/spieler/76608 That's some cracking research you did, I bet MacIntyre is ****ting himself.
I didnt dispute at all what position we signed him to play, it's pretty evident cos we've never played him anywhere else. My point is he shouldnt have been signed to play there.
Secondary positions. Now look through the performance data for his whole career and notice that each game shows him playing as CF. If he'd played almost exclusively as a winger I'm sure he'd be called a winger.
Ehab speaks... Speaking to Sky Sports minutes after the N’Doye deal went over the line, Allam said: “(The N’Doye deal) has taken three weeks and was a very close call. “Today’s been very stressful when it actually went down to the wire. Negotiations were on three or four different levels today but we finally got it over the line thanks to Steve Bruce (City’s boss, who travelled to Paris to meet the player). “The complications were just in personal terms with the player, but we got there in the end. “We were hoping for a second signing (Lennon) but with the pressures of signing for a striker, we missed out on that unfortunately. “It’s been very stressful but I’m actually very pleased that it’s all done and dusted.” Meanwhile, Steve Bruce was also a happy man after his trip across the Channel resulted in an astute signing. “I’m delighted to have completed the signing of Dame and I’m looking forward to seeing him in action for us,” Bruce told the club’s official website. “He will undoubtedly strengthen our squad and add a significant goal threat.” http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull...-25965477-detail/story.html?002#ixzz3QgM3ZiBp
Yeah, and you said 'there's literally no reference anywhere to him ever playing on the wing' and I found it in 3 seconds.
Funny you ignore the rest of my post, as apart from them claiming they're his secondary positions, the more detailed data on that very same site also claims he's never played on the wing.
You've posted a link that shows he played as a striker(or secondary striker) in every game in Serie A.
By secondary striker they mean wide. Ok then, why does it say left or right wing as his secondary position if he has never played there? I mustve seen him play 30 full length matches in Serie A yet you're taking the word of someone who is a numbers bod ticking a box on a database without watching games. And of course we've never seen mistakes on any websites about any players ever.
You initially claimed that he wasn't a striker, but was a wide player and that's obviously not the case. I never said he'd never played wide, but he's obviously predominately a striker, it's where he played for Palermo and it's where we signed him to play.
Secondary Striker means in the hole on that site, not out wide. Wide is RW/LW. Why don't you look through his career stats for yourself? Every game is CF except for one SS when he was about 12.
I never disputed for one minute where we signed him to play. I said it was wrong to sign him to play there.
Nope. As the Carlton Cole deal fell through he is staying until the summer at least. Biggest loss has to be ZAHA. Cost Man Utd £11m for just 28 mins of football. Great biz niz by Palace mind on the wonga at least. WBA other than Darren Fletcher have done little and dont look that much better. Aston Villa really are in the brown stuff. So the window is now shut. Let the bun fight begin.
It appears that Everton only went after Aaron Lennon when LVG told them Januzaj was not available. Says alot for Stoke City then as Everton are struggling and have some nasty fixtures looming. Relegation fight afterall Aaron ? twt........
There's no doubt we signed him as a striker, because that's what he is. It's where he played most of his games for Palermo and Uruguay. He has played wide right and left in the past, but he is first and foremost a striker.
Now we've got another decent striker. We have the option if we're chasing a game to switch Hernandez wide and still have two centre forwards.
