So...............having woken up to 3 inches of snow and with some time on my hands, I thought I'd muse over what I'd like to see as our starting line up on Saturday. I'm sure Redknapp will go with his usual square pegs in round holes selections, but what would you pick? Here's mine: ------------------------------------Green-------------------------------- Isla--------------------Onuoha------------Caulker---------------Yun ---------------------------------Sandro---------------------------------- Barton----------------------------Fer-------------------------Taarabt --------------------------Vargas--------Austin------------------------- Sandro replaced by Henry when he tires (or is injured!). The full backs to attack at every opportunity, with Barton and Taarabt playing their midfield roles in a diamond with Fer and Sandro. Taarabt, Fer and Barton can all interchange positions as the game allows, as long as the basic shape is maintained when the ball is lost.
Thats far too tactical for harry. 4-4-2 lump the ball up to OBZ Perhaps as above with Phillips and Toilett down the sides, Adel in a free role at the top of the diamond replaced with Fer when he gets tired. Prefer Dunne to Onuoha. Whoever plays down the left needs to track back to help Yun
Looks good! I just hope that Harry has a rethink and starts playing Vargas up front with Charlie (home and away), Fer in the middle and plays Tubby more often. I would even consider playing Isla at RM and play Ned behind him at RB. Oh, and attack is the best form of defense, please!
Perfect Maybe Hoillet for Taraabt for the first 55 mins No Hill or Henry - sorry lads No Dunne - also sorry No Bobby - sorry lad Pace & ball skills Let the coaches get them working hard & disciplined & sub them after 25 mins if they aren't trying
Good line up there Col, although I may have tweak it a little.................. ------------------------------------Harry Green-------------------------------- Harry Isla--------------------Harry Onuoha------------Harry Caulker---------------Harry Yun -------------------------------Harry Sandro (replaced while squad singing national anthem)----------------- Harry Barton----------------------------Harry Fer-------------------------HarryTaarabt ( replaced by mobile kebab vender after 30min ) --------------------------Harry Vargas--------Harry Austin------------------------- Subs - Harry Zamora Subs not used - Harry Zarate, ( frozen out by Harry & the weather) Harry SWP( late, flat tyre) Harry Rio ( writing 3rd book )
I'd be happy enough with that Col. My big doubt would be are Sandro, Yun and Adel all fit enough? Our left side will get very exposed if they are not. We would be a bit more solid with. ------------------------------------Green-------------------------------- Isla--------------------Onuoha------------Caulker---------------Yun --------------------Barton---------------Sandro---------------------------------- -----------Vargas-----------Fer------------------Taraabt---------- -----------------------------------Austin------------------------------ and with Vargas and Adel really getting forward to support Austin when we have the ball (4-3-3), and getting back when we lose it (to a 4-5 1)
My team for Saturday...is whatever runs on the pitch. It has to be ...we have no dice to throw now. Come on uRRRS By the way....when do we see Greco-Cox play a few minutes...if Zarate is so poor, unfit or completely destroyed by being returned to sender within a month......lets play some one whose confidence is blooming
There's no way that this (or the OP team) should go down. Its a very good little side on paper. I'll be there Saturday and would be thrilled if this is the team that's sent out
Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Yosemite Sam..........sorry, couldn't resist. Col's team look the best of a bad bunch really. I agree with Totally in that Isla could be useful on the right of midfield and can cross.
In a perfect world I would love to see us line up like that. I've posted this one on another thread, focusing on making us more resilient and harder to beat, ment to be used away from home. ----------------------------Green---------------------------- Onuoha---------Dunne--------Caulker-----------Hill -------------------Sandro---------Henry------------------- Isla-------------------------------------------------------Yun ---------------------Vargas--------------------------------- -----------------------------------Austin-------------------- Should make us harder to beat and also play players in their prefered positions.
I like this, but would have Yun at LB and put any one of Fer, Hoilett, Tubby, Kranky, Barton... at LM. Or this: ----------------------------Green---------------------------- Onuoha---------Dunne--------Caulker-----------Yun -------------------Sandro---------------------------- Isla-------------------Fer------------------------Barton ---------------------Vargas--------------------------------- -----------------------------------Austin--------------------
If you play Adel in front of Yun, you have to promise not to have a go at Yun, for A - not getting forward enough B - being out of position He'll have little cover in front of him and chasing people around. Vargas for me has been poor, yes he does the occasional good thing but lets be honest poor. Having said that, what we are doing at the moment isn't working so change is always going to be a forwards step.
The thing is that Sandro would be aware of this. He would need to be more to the left because Barton would close the right side. If anything it would give Yun the chance to push up when Tubby moves into the middle.
I won't bore you with a long explanation and you have a point. We are at home and must attack imo. What would you pick?
I'd pick an attacking team with two wingers to pin their full backs back. This means we will have to play a high pressing game to nullify their threat. Their centre midfielders are young lads as Schneiderlin and Wanyama are not fully fit and/or are still injured. Press high. I'd play a 4-4-1-1/ 4-2-3-1 and make a real threat of it. Green, Isla, Dunne, Caulker, Yun Vargas, Barton, Sandro, Hoilett, Zarate/Taarabt, Austin Of course that won't happen, and Austin needs to start getting used to playing alone (Pelle at Southampton does it) and getting behind defences otherwise we just won't score goals.
