Not good enough for Crapdiff http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/footbal...news/cardiff-to-let-maynard-leave_203050.html
Injuries haven't helped him, but 2 goals in 21 (I think one of those was a penalty) and 4 in 16 for Wigan is hardly pulling up trees nor would it attract interest from other clubs. That 1.6 million that we got is suddenly looking like good business afterall.
wasn't it 6 million and Martyn Waghorn?.... could have changed this clubs path and maybe it wouldn't have seen us relegated... Ah well, at least we got 2 million for Baldock and he's doing ****e at Brighton
Got what his agent forgot to tell him - oblivion. You had it so good Nicky and you fell in to the usual greed trap.
I agree Mike, but I also have to ask myself is he really that bothered ? He's probably earned £10-£15k a week (or maybe more?) ever since leaving us. He's achieved zilch in that time, but providing he's been careful with his earnings, may never need to work again.
Sad reflection on the state of football angelic and as for commitment to their employer the answer is obvious. The type of person Nicky became makes me feel for the supporters who put their hard earned money down to watch players who clearly don't give a damn. Thankfully SC doesn't buy in to over-hyped player syndrome and has rebuilt our team on desire to play and commitment, and that's a breath of fresh air.
No other site is saying he's had his contract cut, so I won't believe it until it appears on another one just yet.
There are literally scores of professional footballers just like NM in the top 2 divisions that will make an absolute killing out of the game and contribute absolutely nothing. Like NM these players will also win nothing, show little or no loyalty, and on their way through their careers they won't even have to show much effort to become millionaires or better. Names that spring to mind so far David Bentley Jermaine Jenas Aaron Lennon Jamie Redknapp Nile Ranger Plus mercenaries such as Fabrizio Ravinelli
I'd take him back in a heartbeat. We're worried about Smith leaving, and we need a proven forward. Maynard now has experience at a higher level, and although he's done terribly since leaving us, I reckon he'd happily take a short-term deal (until summer).
