So you're saying it's the media's right to publish/broadcast this, despite it being against the clubs wishes and potentially damaging to their operation. Interesting.
This board is filled with people complaining about someone exercising their rights, despite it being potentially damaging and riding roughshod over their wishes. With rights come responsibilities, and no, I'm not happy at media reports potentially scuppering our transfer deals.
The media are simply doing their job, the only way to manage these things is to tell them what's going on and try and control when the stories are released.
The media have a responsibility to look at the potential consequences of their actions. To simply say "it's our job" is weak.
Erm, yes that's precisely what I'm saying - it's what journalism is otherwise all we'd read / hear in the news would be regurgitated press releases. Every single investigative story that has ever been published was against somebody's wishes. Do you think it was wrong to break the Watergate scandal cos it was against Nixon's wishes and damaged his political career?
This isn't about an individuals wrong doing, this is about a business going about it's legitimate activity in a descrete manner in order to not alert its competitors. It might be someones entitlement to "get the scoop", but that doesn't make it right.
Well in that case you just put an end to any transfer rumour ever being discussed in the media ever again. Mods - can we delete the 114 pages from the Winter Transfer thread please?
Not being privvy to discussions that have taken place, I'll make an assumption. This was a sensitive negotiation that could easily be scuppered. The club tried to keep it under wraps for that reason. The media deliberately ignored this in order to raise their own profiles.
And as I said, that happens in every single story you ever read about a transfer before it actually happens. And how many transfers come out of the blue in a sense that we've literally heard nothing until they have signed the dotted line?
If you think I've posted bollocks, say it, and why. It's simply an opinion which differs from yours and I'm man enough to take it. Criticising spelling/grammar is a cheap shot.
