His 6 month loan move to Levante is pending a FIFA ruling but likely to go through.

"Just an hour after the official close of the (Spanish) January transfer window, Levante announced that they had reached an agreement with Fulham for the Costa Rican international but were waiting for the move to be approved by FIFA before making it official.

“Levante have signed Bryan Ruiz with the LFP, pending the authorization of FIFA, after Fulham and Levante reached a loan agreement for the player until the end of the season.”

Strange that he should walk into a relegation fight, which is where Levante are in the Primera. And, on the face of it he's now free to go in the summer and we get nothing. However it would be surprising if 'some' money hasn't changed hands from this loan deal

Apologies fulhamish1977, I've only just now read your post in the 'Internal Murmurings' thread and in particular the point that a permanent move is dependent on Levante not being relegated.

Presumably they've brought him as 'the saviour' then.

I expect that Levante will cover all Bryan's wages and provide a small loan fee, as an alternative to a larger transfer fee and us part funding his wages.

Could we be lining up a signing now that we have Ruiz off the wage bill??

A "good offer" according to the Club -

"The Club received a very good offer from Levante UD for Bryan to join them on loan until the end of the season.

Following a conversation with Bryan, he was interested in this arrangement. The loan agreement is still subject, however, to international clearance and the move cannot be confirmed yet.

As soon as further details are available, an announcement will be made on fulhamfc.com."

Uhmm...interesting to see what "good" translates into. Suppose it gets him off the wage bill, which might allow a signing as Fab says - but probably a loan!? And, if he was so keen to go there's no sense in hanging on to him

I think this is a good move really. It was a gamble that didn't come off for us although if he had been played in his natural position it might have been different. Anyway, he likes nothing more than a dirty scrap at the bottom of a league, because he's a tough, no nonsense player that never goes missing when there's an opportunity to do a Cruyff turn just outside your own penalty box!

Sorry Cravin' I don't agree with your assessment of Ruiz.
I'm beginning to despair at the management of this club since Khan took over, each manager has miss-managed the club and players that they have. Is it because players have been brought in who they did not want, yet all the managers from Jol onwards under the reign of Khan have failed to manage talented players.
It's started to happen under Symons now, why do you allow a player who has shown he can change a game to go out on loan without a replacement of equal ability? Does Symons think Kacaniklic is the solution!!!!!
Why do you allow a player like Smith with Championship experience and goals to go on loan to keep less experienced players like Dembele? Doesn't make sense unless he is not in charge & has to take these orders from someone else, why would he do things that are detrimental to keeping his job.

No need to be sorry sbm. We're all allowed opinions. My last sentence was tongue in cheek. I did qualify my comment with the fact we've never played him in his natural position. He is considered a luxury player dont you think? Not one to get down and dirty when you need it.

I've always been a Ruiz fan, but there's no point in keeping a player who wants to leave. I do think that we've got players already at the club who can fill his position (although after Saturday, I'm worried that Kit might think McCormack is one of them, rather than seeing him as an out and out striker), and the loan deal saves us what is probably one of the heftier salaries still on the wage bill. Sad to see him go, but I don't think it was a bad call from Kit, or whoever else at the club was involved in making the decision.

Ironic isn't it - his first game was against Blackburn and his last game wasn't.

I tend to agree that we have players who can cover this position, one less after David's loan, but Kaca or Hyndman can do a job. Agree with Captain that McC needs to be upfront... SBMB has a point that on paper we are weaker although last season on paper we should be safe...

As this is being described as a 'loan' we must be taking up our option on him for one more year.

Although it's a bit annoying that he's gone to a side that may well get relegated, he's got 6 months to put himself in the shop window in Spain. He's made no secret of wanting to leave and I can't really blame him. Levante have trips to the Nou Camp and Bernabau between now and the end of the season. We've got visits to the New Den and Huddersfield!

Had not realised that Levante were bottom of the table in La Liga.
    Out of the frying pan?
Good luck to Bryan anyway - deserves better.

Sounds like the Ruiz loan was done on the last minute of the Spanish deadline Friday!!! Not another cock-up ?
    Kit Symons
"The paperwork was done on Friday night which was when the Spanish window closed so we're just waiting for confirmation from FIFA as to whether that has gone through or not," he added. "Both clubs agreed the deal.

So if fifa don't ratify the move we might still have Ruiz? Wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

Can't play for Fulham. Can't play for Levante. Hasn't trained all week.

According to Kit at today's press conference the Clubs are still waiting on the FIFA ruling. Watch this space!

Agreed. Although I am not so sure I agree with the I am a high performance player statement. Not noticed much evidence of that over the past 3 years or so, at least, not while he has been wearing a Fulham shirt.
