There is no way we'd have won that game if tried to play our A game with the personnel we had on the pitch imo Bob.

No Siggy, no Ki, no Monterro, no Routledge and after a short while no Emness meant we HAD to set up differently to our usual 4-2-3-1. If we hadn't then Southampton would have killed us imo.

On top of all the absentees we had two new starters in Naughton and Fulton. I know Fulton's had a few minutes but he's not first, second or even third choice, neither is Carroll or Barrow. We set up with two banks of four so we relied on hard work, our shape and our defence as opposed to our normal passing and possession game.....tactics.

We stifled Sotton limiting them to few opportunities and outside of Ash's heroics I don't recall them have many at all.

Koeman seemed p1shed off after the game simply because our second string did a job on him.

That game must be your worst nightmare, Bob. A good gameplan from Monk and a goal from Shelvey. <laugh>

Thought Naughton had a very good game.

Positive! I thought he looked comfortable going forward too, which is a bonus.

Good début, strong and seemed to fit straight in. Needs a few more games under his belt before we'll see him at his best imo Glam, but a very good start.

No way confused mate. I can understand if we really deserved it (crticism), as we have on occasions. But we put a good shift in, limited Saints to not that many genuine chances on goal, we've got so many players out, so many youngsters, inexperienced & new starts in & it's still seems like people want to stick the knife in. It quite incredible to take in...

Poor first half dyer & taylor like an open wound on our left that S.H made the most of, midfield all over the place, ash did a lot better than usual, second half i think the team decided to bin monks game plan and did a bit better and jj`s goal fantastic when they come off but i hope he doesnt go mental next game and give it away or get redded !

An unexpected welcome win. 45% happy with that.

I see Koeman wants to appeal the red card. Good luck with that. It was a dangerous, over the top of the ball assault. Wasn't there some previous a few mins before between Bertrand and Wheelie ?
If that red gets overturned then the FA should be taken to court for negligence and failing to enforce the laws of the game.
Remember that red for Fabianski that didn't get overturned against West Ham ?

What is wrong with our board?

We beat a side that are 3rd in the prem, a team we haven't beaten in 60 odd years away....

Then some pick on our manager, even say he sounds like a knob. What the hell has happened to sticking together, Jack's for life?

Be happy we have a guy with the Swans in his heart, be happy we are where we are in the league and be happy with a bloody win.

I see Monk supporters are all claiming his tactics were superb - fair enough, had he not started his interview by saying ' 'We didn't come here to defend, we came to play our game plan.' and pick four attacking players.

"Yes, we finished seventh, which was one place higher than the previous season, but I put that achievement down to the attitude of the players rather than anything Paulo Sousa gave us"

I'm gonna have to pay closer attention to Taylor, watch him like a hawk, next game to try to see what I'm not seeing.

What I see is that Taylor, on the whole, is dependable, reliable, covers well, chases from box to box and blocks so many attempted shots and crosses his legs must look like their covered in big red polka dots.

Granted, he is susceptible to pace but can any one name me a full back anywhere in the world who isn't? particularly at LB.
