The win puts a welcome gloss on a pretty awful display but I'm not complaining. Shelvey has that in his locker and when they were backing off him I was screaming "SHOOOOT!!" <diva>

Let's not get carried away though because we were poor again though defensively we looked solid. Williams - LEGEND! Best performance of the season imo. More importantly let's hope this gives them confidence because they've been lacking it of late.

One last word for Bertrand - you're a dirty sod.<grr> Hope Mo is OK.

Hubby just said it was like the reverse of the game at the Liberty where they got a smash and grab. For once in his life he's right. <eek>

It must be the crappy stream quality, because on the real Sky Sports channel it looked like we had well beaten in the second half.

I don't understand this smash and grab stuff. We contained them comfterably first half and played very well second half. We deserve the three points. Saints fans are saying the same thing on their board.

saints blew it in the first half with all the possession they had in our area but we were rock solid at the back and with ash MOM shows we were on the back foot, Shelvey can be a match winner at times as his vision on goal with long range shots is second to none and im so glad for him that he got the winner. It's been a great week end for us with the way results have gone so we have to be happy with that...great unexpected win and another 3 points.....

I thought when they got red carded and losing at home in a game they should have won first half - "they're doing a Swansea" :D

p.s. You're being very generous to hubby, my Mrs would never admit such a thing

If it was the other way around I would have been gutted not to be ahead at half time and especially to lose in the end. Saying that they didn't create too many good chances considering the amount of possession they had. We grew into the second half a bit to be fair.

Exactly!!! Don't get this putting our side down!! Both Le-tiss & Jamie complimentary to the team & Monk. Pity some of 'some-called' fans couldn't do the same!!!!!

Not to mention of their 6 shots on target most were easy run of the mill saves by Fab because they had to chance shoot and hope due to our players closing them down quickly.

Don't agree with you on Shelvey. He's got no work ethic, doesn't track back and is not involved in the game at all. Except for two shots, one in the woodwork and one goal. Not enough to become a MOM in my book...

Totally agree on Dyer. He's lost his confidence. Seems like he never goes for the one on one option anymore...

Well I'm a so called fan and we got lucky, very very lucky. Am I ecstatic - yes I am and as said - about time we mugged someone as it's happened to us time and again.
Officially we had three attempts on goal 1 on target, one hit the post, one the side netting. Soton 15 attempts 6 on target.
But I don't take the tactical genius stuff, we set up to attack with Gomis, Dyer, Emnes and Jono - Emnes went off and Barrow replaced him not at all defensive. Southampton took us part in the first half especially. (Monk just said, 'We didn't come here to defend, we came to play our game plan.')
When we did pass, we played as well as we have all season - too many speculative passes giving away easy ball and setting us on the back foot,

As said - a brilliant but surprising win.

Don't get me wrong, I am landed that we won, but to sit here and read some of the comments, is making me cringe.

Had it been the other way around we would be screaming that we had been robbed, and complaining that the opposition fans were deluded. But because its us, some are saying we deserved it, I mean there is even a comment here talking about Southampton smash and grabbing at the liberty, yeah they did, if whoever made the comment didn't watch the game.

Ash won us that game as he was absolutely immense, other than that it was a dire performance.
