    He's a bit naff like. Plus he's old and he's injury prone. Being able to give him a short deal (which is sensible) is unlikely, so I imagine that Sunderland will have to tie him up to a fairly long deal, which is a daft decision.

    I suppose we'll see, but I'd be very dissapointed if we had spent any of our transfer budget on him.

    Because Danny Simpson has become a world beater all of a sudden as well as cheating steven taylor, okay pal, i'll take your word for it

    Did you see Steven Taylor towards the end of the season? And Simpson's no "world beater", but neither is Brown, not by a long shot. They've both got more than 5 years on Brown as well.

    I just can't see why a team would want Brown if they want to improve and climb up the table. Brown is not an improvement over Sunderland's existing defenders. Not even a tiny improvement, so why? He's old, he's injury prone, and there's absolutely no possibility of him improving in the few years he has left. In fact, his ability is likely to demise over time.

    It's just a signing I don't understand. I think Bruce's connections with Man Utd and Alex Ferguson have clouded his judgement somewhat. It's the sort of thing I've been hoping Pardew never succumbs to when it comes to teams like West Ham.

    Surely a left back should be their target not Brown

    They played Bardsley there who is primarily a right back, so needed a full back, whichever side

    no thanks to brown - too old now, overrated and wouldn,t chuck 40-50k a week away on him.
    exactly the same for o'shea who's up there today also.
    two 30yr old ex manure defenders who will be as good on the pitch for them as smith is for us (note: didnt say smith was no good at the club)
    i hope they get gibson aswell

    You can count on 1 hand the amount of players that SAF has sold that have gone on to have a successful career, the only ones I can think of are;

    Beckham.
    Ronaldo.
    Pique.

    SAF always tends to sell players at he right time for the right price, normally when there on there way down, Look at Stam, RVN
