We need a centre party without nutter factions on either wing. Can't see it happening in our lifetimes...
I believe that Labour is very much a centre party, as our very influential and very much predominantly right wing media make sure that any party who even suggest going to the left of centre get hammered...
In your reasoning you conveniently omit to mention that the NHS was on it's knees following 11 years of Tory government and the fact that something had to be done to bring it back from the brink. Alan Milburn had the stark choice of borrowing ridiculous amounts of money and putting the country perilously close to bankruptcy or resorting to PFI's to save the NHS. He took the only sensible action open to him in agreeing PFI contracts even though the stakeholders had the upper hand because they knew his predicament. Even the staunchest Tory supporters understand that Milburn had no option but use PFI's and only attack Labour on the length of the contracts that were negotiated.
Bit of a sweeping statement that, your calling all self employed people dishonest and tax cheats. Plenty of people on PAYE doing cash in hand work. Plenty of benefits cheats. Plenty of public sector workers taking back handers. It does not mean everyone is at it. There are hundreds of ways for "anyone" to cheat the system, it does not mean everyone does.....
It is a very simplistic response to suggest that anyone who has an opinion about the system should start there own business mate, much the same as sweeping statements. The truth is that not everyone can be self employed and not all of the tax commitment can be collected through the PAYE system, but we all use the same roads, hospitals, council services, NHS and protected by our local boys in blue and it all has to be paid for. I don't mind paying my tax, one little bit, I just wish that I could pay a lot more than I do..it would mean that I earn a lot more than I do now
No I'm not saying it's all, although I would bet money that the vast majority don't pay every penny in tax that they should. I agree with the rest, but that's a different debate. Plenty of dishonest Postman stealing money from cards. Plenty of dishonest salesmen taking bonuses they shouldn't really be entitled too. There's loads but I'm talking in general about small businesses/self employed people and how easy it is to avoid tax.
But I don't see your point? you targeted one section of people who can cheat the system, there are loads of ways to cheat the system, you don't have to be self employed to do it. I think the debate is about peoples honesty, people are generally inherently dishonest if they think they can get away with it, rich or poor. (not everyone mind) As far as I know neither party is saying they are going to change the rules either, it was just the same under labour.
Unfortunately, I don't draw my state pension for another seven years so my current income is paid for by my pension contributions whilst in work. I do appreciate how fortunate I am to have such a generous pension though
Something on the radio this morning saying the loophole for American-based companies to avoid paying corporation tax is to be closed, any stockpiled profits will be taxed at 14% and any future profits taxed at 20% from now on. These are some of the world's biggest companies included, such as Starbucks, McDonalds, Apple and so on. They estimate to recoup hundreds of billions from this loophole being closed. They're going to earmark the funds for yep... you guessed it... transport. Digging up roads and laying new roads that look exactly the same and building rail lines that should allow faster journeys but in truth, with just be as **** as what we already have. Pathetic ****ing rats in charge of this country, Labour, Cons, Chavkip and the rest of the ****ers. Every one of them should be lined up and shot in the face.
As Woolfie Smith once said Terry , "Come the glorious day, backs against the wall bop, bop, bop" Mind I hope they dual the A1 in Northumberland before the revolution
