Nice one Mauled1904. The fans showed our support for Steve and the team by not only getting a banner, but collecting enough for two with the prospect of more. The club showed their support for the fans by not even bothering to display it, despite it costing them sod all, there being an unfilled space available for it and fans offering to bring ladders or a lifting hoist to do it for them. They snubbed us. It's shameful.
It wasn't the club DMD , it was the one person at the club, who we trusted to sort it out and he let us down. There was an opportunity to show support and I believe it may have helped yesterday, but we will never know now will we. I think a complaint to Ehab is in order.
He said he was. He said he thought it was fantastic. When he finally replied on Friday teatime to say it hadn't moved, I offered to bring ladders or sort a cherry picker. "Leave it with me" was the reply. I'm sure he'll say it was ultimately down to the SMC, but if nobody tells us, I can't talk to them and deal with whatever hurdles they may offer. It's shameful.
I looked around for the banner yesterday and couldn't find it. Has it been removed? Has it been returned to its owner? Who is responsible? Some clarity on this would be appreciated by those who funded the flag, in so far as people know what has actually happened. EDIT - you posted as I typed. Thanks for the update Dutch.
