First the players, I don't know what happened today, as has been said, no urgency, poor passing & on the most part zero heart. A huge gap in between the front 2 & the rest of the team, balls played up & bouncing off the front 2. Nothing stuck. I've been saying all season, well since November when we started playing like ****, that there are 3 worse teams than us & that's been from watching MOTD, we've looked like something is going to happen & I've been believing that, but today I saw a **** team that came to the KC & looked like they couldn't string 2 passes together, then we gifted them the goal & suddenly they look like ****ing World beaters. Elmo's hand ball goal was stupid, ok if he got away with it, don't know how the linesman saw it, but the were 2 players coming in behind. Poor finishing on another 2 occasions that I can think of & Livermore having the chance to shoot on the edge of the box, ended up back in our half, in fact it might have lead to a shot from them. The fans, I was sitting in between a few guys opposite SB & a few left, but really all I heard was, "oh he's ****, oh he's ****, this was before we were 2-0 down & Robbo & Dawson were mentioned along with a few others who did play ****, but never got going. People asking each other where is Ramirez from, where's Abel H from & even where's Jelavic from. Really? He's been here a year. A few years ago there would have been lots of abuse from City fans if the opposition had celebrated in the corner like they did for the second. No reaction. In fact the most reaction I saw other than people walking out was a few people throwing their flags in the general direction of the pitch. What's happened to the support? Finally tactics, what are they supposed to be, SB likes to see the players pass it around but it's always on the edge of our box & in areas of no danger to the opposition. Then it's knock the ball long with no support & then when tackling back we had some weak midfield challenges. Only Livermore looked up for it, but he was getting frustrated with no one picking up his balls or the ref blowing for a foul. I haven't watched MOTD tonight but his booking should never have been from what I saw of it. Abel H has a great touch, I've seen it, but today he looked unable to simply tap the ball to control it. Jelavic's knock downs were just going out of play, if we were lucky. Hudds was the only one at the end to applaud the fans but his head was down as soon as they scored. So do I believe there is 3 worse than us. Yes! Unfortunately they still have to play us & they'll probably beat us. Do I believe we'll stay up. No! I want to believe we can, but I just don't see where the next goals coming from, let alone the next point. After seeing the other results "go our way", today it gives me hope. Next week I'll be believing we can get something & so on, but I Fear the worst! A sad day.
Just my opinion but I believe we are trying to play 'possession football' with players who are simply not capable of it. What might be working on the training ground is not being transferred to match day. I hate 'possession football' - boring, boring bloody boring. The snag is that whereas Elmo can get the occasional cross into the box we have nobody remotely capable of completing it. I agree with the commentator when he said that it was hard for Hull when they were playing with 9 men as the two up front might as well not be on the pitch.
I dunno if this belongs in this thread, but it seems as good a place as any (and not worth starting a new thread for). Two things I saw in the BT coverage: 1/ The camera was trained on AA and Ehab at one point. Assem usually has a kinda silly smile on his face and doesn't appear to be watching the area of play. Yesterday he was and looked grim. Ehab was also apparently talking to him (about something - on or off-pitch); 2/ There was also an aerial shot of a human wave pouring away, up the path to the bridge, away from the game, a good 10 minutes before the final whistle. Pretty dispiriting, all in all.......
Sometimes the fans have to play their part! It's ok having a go at the west stand but North were well and truly out sung!
For the first 40 minutes they weren't. (And I don't sit in that stand). And Newcastle didn't really sing until 2-0 and victory in sight.
Apart from the applause, North stand were virtually silent. The singers in there are mainly from those that sang in the east, but are now reduced in number as some moved elsewhere or simply stopped attending. Splitting the stand was always going to a flop. More should have been to oppose it, or at least carry out some damage limitation. Newcastle and others have shown that fans grouped in the ne corner, as we were, are louder than the north. It was a ridiculous idea.
I take your point dutch, but we had 20000 fans there and there was hardly a peep. Even just clapping would have made some noise. Earlier in the season there used to be Steve Bruce sung off and on throughout the game. Just cos we are losing shouldnt mean fans give up, whcih they appear to have done.
Apart from a Newcastle chant after the CTWD chant (which was totally screwed up with people in North and East singing at different times), they weren't loud until their first goal and sang consistently after their second onwards. Again I'm not saying we were loud either.
If was **** last season, it's **** this season. It was better for the first few home games, but as the performances have got worse, so has the support. Which is not all that surprising.
Of course it does help when your team scores that you're gonna sing louder! That's something the other fans can't do anything about! But the fact is the our so called singing section had a bad day!
We have all realised you agree with the commentators, you have mentioned it enough times i am sick of hearing it. I don't think our strikers are good enough but we got two good balls in the box in the full 90 minutes and the players where there to head it, apart from that the balls into the box where so poor it didn't matter who is in the box as they wouldn't have scored. We are so deep there is no-one near the strikers, they have no support. The balls to the strikers yesterday where useless. Against Everton when we played it long we played it beyond the defenders for Hernandez to use his pace, but if we play aimless balls up to the front two they are not going to win the ball as Newcastle's CBs are clearly good in the air.
A big part of what pisses me off is that most of the current atmosphere problems were predicted as the evictions were first raised. It was ignored, and worse disputed by some of our own. Some still seem to be trying to justify it.
I agree the move wasn't handled well but really what do you want people to do about it ? Presumably you did what you could at the time The issue which cannot be mentioned has driven a wedge between the owners and large sections of our support
Yes they did, I was next to them in the East Stand, I did nt hear us at all. The name change has affected the vocal support, no TIGERS chants, shame. We need to get behind the team, moaning continually will not help to breed confidence. WE ALL NEED TO SUPPORT POSITIVELY and VOCALLY
That doesn't explain why 2,500 and less consistently outsing us.how many Newcaetle or anyone else get at home is irrelevant.
Is that the NE corner where poor acoustics were blamed for us being outsung by away fans? But where they now seem to have improved as away fans outsing use when in there.
