Sure - but brum were feckin awful today and all three points seemed v likely after the first 15 minutes
Just four words required to sum that up: Poor game. Good result. But why stop at four?! We were the better side, decent spells with the ball, much better defensively though not tested too much. Disappointed not to win though I don't think we quite did enough to win the game against an ever-improving and well-drilled Birmingham side. AN seems to be trying to figure out which players he can trust and which ones will be surplus to requirements so its making for a few interesting team sheets! Need six points against Blackpool and Charlton now. Not out of the question and if we can do that then we're right in the play off mix. Top two out of the question imo
Apparently he didn't, and said he's "disappointed not to have won" which is what I want him to be saying if I'm being honest. My faith isn't wavering, still very confident we can make at least top six and then who knows?
It must be nice to be so confident and dismiss others views so easily. What you neglect to mention is both Brentford & Watford were playing teams above them, we were not. So lets put your comments in context Watford were away to Bournemouth, the best team in the division so far this season. They played most of the game with only 10 men and still only lost 2 nil. Brentford were at home to Middlesborough and lost only 1 nil. Not sure what you mean by a) make things up or b) get your facts completely wrong. What I said was we're losing ground on a top 6 place. I said this on the baises of the following 11/1/15 1 point off 6th place 17/1/15 1 point off 6th place 20/1/15 1 point off 6th place 21/1/15 1 point off 6th place 24/1/15 4 points off 6th place 27/1/15 4 points off 6th place 30/1/15 4 points off 6th place 31/1/15 3 points off 6th place So lets just say it's all about putting facts in context, although it maybe worth remembering that when you point a finger 3 fingers are pointing back at you.
Just back from Brum... Should have committed johnson forward more, seemed to get forward and then stop. We were so in control he should have been allowed to get into the box. Lacked numbers badly so couldn't get crosses in with any pressure on the defence. Didn't give Hooper enough time, don't get why we'd bring a second striker on with 1 min to go. See on twitter people hailing Bassongs return. Thought he was ok Russell Martin on the other hand was exceptional. Looked classy and composed. Donaldson didn't have a sniff. Olsson had a good game as well Shame we didn't get 3 points, great atmosphere though. 6 points from the next two and we'll be looking at the table completely differently.
I guess the point about today is that the three points seemed to be there for the taking, so it's disappointing not to get them. Is it a decent point? Maybe, we might not really know until later in the season. But the fact is, if we have aspirations of automatic promotion, the sequence of 'win one, lose one, draw one' simply isn't good enough.
It must be awful having such a negative outlook, focussing on the worst case scenario and looking into a glass half empty, hate to be like that I would. So basically you've just confirmed that we've gained a point on 6th place this weekend right? That is what you just said, yes? Four points behind yesterday and now three points behind this evening. Just making sure my eyes aren't deceiving me here. Sorry, but what part of that constitutes "losing ground" exactly?? (I think you'll find that's what I meant about "getting your facts wrong" in case you're still not sure ) Here's another question that might be a bit easier for you to answer - can you remember and remind us all how we fared away at Bournemouth (you know, "the best team in this division so far this season", the team Watford "only lost 2-0 to") when we played them at their place just three weeks ago? Also I think you'll find that Watford lost 2-1 at St.Andrews, just as we're putting things in context. As you seem to enjoy trotting out witty words of wisdom, there's another saying that goes something along the lines of when you're in a hole, stop digging. I'd put your spade back in the shed and wait to see what happens over the course of the next few weeks if I were you Go on then, over to you.....
Must have been an imposter, I thought everyone knew he was bloody useless and only played at CB because Neeyul Adams was such a pussy he let him play wherever he wants. Thanks for the summary of the game fella, didn't see it myself but from what I've heard that sounds a very accurate assessment
Its not about being negative it's about being realistic. I hope I'm wrong and we finish the season in one of the top 2 spots that you are so confidently see us achieving. You still don't seem to have got your head around context. So lets make it simple at the start of the year we were in 7th place, 3 points behind 6th. Today we are in 8th, 3 points behind 6th. Interestingly last week we were 8th aswell. So if we keep gaining ground at this rate we'll finsh about 11th and 3 points behind 6th. But it doesn't matter because these are only made up facts we I've got completely wrong. Yes the result against Bournemouth was great and we got the new manager response we all wanted, but it's not about one game. This week & last week we had a chance to get back in the top 6, we didn't take our chance. We appear to have dominated the game today, but despite this we only had 4 shots on target and failed to score. As I said earlier if we want to get back in the top 6 and dare I say finish in the top 2 then we really need to be beating teams like Birmingham, especially when they are not playing well. Oh well its okay cause Watford lost 2-1 to Birmingham a fact in your arrogance you're suggesting I didn't know (It must have been someone else using my log in that mention this in another thread). What I don't know about that game is how well Birmingham played. What I know is by all accounts Birmingham were very poor today and we couldn't score against them. NCFC Dorset Branch seems to have summed it up "I guess the point about today is that the three points seemed to be there for the taking, so it's disappointing not to get them. Is it a decent point? Maybe, we might not really know until later in the season. But the fact is, if we have aspirations of automatic promotion, the sequence of 'win one, lose one, draw one' simply isn't good enough". Like last week this week is another opportunity missed. As I've clearly said I haven't lost all hope of us finishing in the top 6, but I'm no where near as cofident as I have been in the past. Anyway time I sorted my head out, got it back in the clouds and became a happy clapper.
Christ, do you always analyse everything like this? Do you ever get any enjoyment just being a fan? This all does my head in, it really does.
Tell me about it, I just don't get that kind of mentality, I really don't. I'd hate to hear what he had to say when things really were **** in the Hamilton/Grant/Rodent years, fella must have been unbearable!
Exactly. I've supported City for many, many years, and have seen all manner of ups and downs. That doesn't make me better, just older, but I've learned to take the good with the bad. Right now, I see us in a potentially good place. We have a promising young manager, we are still within reach of the play-offs, and we have a strong squad. Is it ok if I remain a happy clapper for the moment?
You go for it fella! This old boy from New Zealand seems to be enjoying it (despite the obvious lack of any actual clapping in this clip)
